Posting to say that I gave up daily weed and booze. They helped me fall asleep but it was some garbage sleep in hindsight. Been sleeping deeper and waking up more alert since then.

good poo poo my brother gets godawful sleep and even zopiclone (like ambien) only gives him a couple hours he drinks every night. I’ve asked him if he thinks it’s possible that drinking makes it worse but he won’t entertain the idea of stopping

drinking alcohol releases cortisol which is the stress hormone its why you wake up early after a night on the piss and you're lying there heart racing and anxious cortisol has a longer half life than alcohol so you can drink to get to sleep but if you have enough alcohol you'll then just be under the influence of cortisol and its horrible. I had a 6 pack last night after no beer for ages and it hasn't left me good today. lately when I've been thinking about having a drink my mind goes to how it makes me feel after, which is preventing me from buying any. its quite good lol. used to be when I'd think about having a drink my mind would only focus on the fun part

I should have gone to bed earlier last night really since I got on meds that don’t make me sleepy all the time, now I have that problem where I feel like work takes too much time out of my day so I stay up late as retaliation. if I put myself properly to bed I fall asleep fine, but damnit, those kerbals aren’t going to finish that mega ship without my personal guidance
