Also check out our GP. If you recall, we has 69k or something like that when we left the Forest Maze, and then I spent every GP and some more we earned after on all the fish, whales and the Teleport place so we had no GP.

This is even without selling any of our loot like all those shields and crap.

I found out Indinera's favourite Might and Magic is the 6th one and I'm remembering the like 6 hour second last dungeon in that game which explains so much.

EDIT: Before someone points out the SankT Crown is in fact actually good for its resists, I did notice that later and equipped it on Sarah.

Ugh, you're not kidding about those extremely low drop rates. It's 4% and 1%. No one likes this kind of poo poo, Indinera...

I can safely say that Indinera's preference towards the game with a 6-hour dungeon easily carried over into games after this one, considering the hell I'm going through in Millennium

Game's pretty nice otherwise, but the Sapphire Cave and the adjoined Ancient Temple are both way too big and way too long; the Ancient Temple even has walking BACK AND FORTH BETWEEN TWO GIGANTIC ROOMS as its main design point. I legit dropped the game for several years because of the Ancient Temple showing up directly after the Sapphire Cave. Directly after. As in they're conjoined.

Anyways now I'm getting stuck because getting back through the Sapphire Cave's labyrinthine mess of jump points after 4 years is feeling nigh impossible.

For some reason you can examine the armour through the entire length of this bench. Not sure why.

I believe this is because the bench/table has been given the "counter attribute" in the chipset, which normally means you can talk to npcs over it, which is typically used for stores and such. But there's no difference between an npc and an interactable object (they are both "events" in RM) so examining an item is the same code.

I was not, however, aware that you could do this across multiple tiles of counter!

I dug into the game's code way back when explicitly for Baretta's shop and I don't know about other games but in this one:
  • the current status of Baretta's shop is tracked by a global variable, it starts at 1 and the maximum it checks is 7 IIRC;
  • all intermediate shops are lost forever: if her shop goes from level 2 to 4 and you haven't checked level 3 though luck;
  • there's nothing in her shop code that tracks items you've bought;
  • the global variable increases are inside semi-random events; most are plot but there might have been one or two in side quests;
  • yes I did track all such events :suicide:
  • no RPGmaker doesn't have a search function that I'm aware of :suicide:
  • as far as I recall, none of the shop level increases were inside conditionals.

Unfortunately, Random cannot be replaced. He's also the best and most consistent damage dealer the entire game, marred only by being a bit fragile for a hero.

No lie, this was a pretty stressful update to make for this reason (but also IRL ones) and by the end of it I was thinking maybe I should reconsider saying 'I like this game a bit, despite itself' in a broad sense.

vilkacis

I don't think you need to feel bad about still liking most of the game, even if the statement comes with a few asterisks. You do still spend a lot more time doing normal rpg things than you do looking at the weird bits, and you can mash through those pretty quickly if you're playing it for yourself. And as far as the lp goes, you did warn us about it so it's not as if it's sprung on anyone out of nowhere.

If it still bugs you, you can just not show the other bad scene in full and gloss over it like any other uninteresting bit of the game. I think the readers more or less get the point about Indinera's particular likes :whip:

...siiiigh. Okaaay.

Wendala's Copyright Symbol has 146 def, 102 mind, prevents crits and raises physcal avoid, resists blunt, flare, ice, bolt, and holy damage, and offers 50% immunity to death (to which all pcs are already immune!) and silence. So pretty good, all things considered.

I don't think Tamara herself is bugged so much as 2k's "priority" mechanic is just really strange. Each move an enemy knows has a priority set between 1 and 100 so one would think the game would go through the options in order, roll a percentage, and pick the first move where it rolls under the listed priority. But from what i've seen during (limited and long ago) experiments with it, it seems like if one priority is more than a handful of digits away from another, the higher one basically always happens regardless of the actual numbers. It's really weird (and would be incredibly obnoxious if you wanted to script a reasonably intelligent enemy).

I took a look at the old shrine area but couldn't find anything special there. I think it might just be there for atmosphere.

There's been a lot of... amazing... lines so far but i'll have to admit "enough mean words" is pretty good.

Basically what I was thinking. Also, I feel the comparison is an insult, both ways! To Bioware's professionalism and uhhhh... comparative restraint, and an insult to the quality of Laxius Power 1. I'd much rather play LP1 again than almost any Bioware game. I guess I have a soft spot for BG2 and ME1 but that's about it. And even those two games... are not ones I'm super crazy about anymore. Funny, since trying to find more games like Baldurs Gate on abandonware sites and stuff was how I found Laxius Power to begin with.

Not quite. The Dark Order wants to take advantage of the Demoniac Cycle to -recruit- the demons (how they think this will work is an eternal mystery) but they have nothing to do with the fact that the Demons are coming. The Dark Orders plot is they're developing a super soldier serum, essentially, so they have the leverage to sway the Demons.

We won't find out WHY the Dark order wants a super mega army alliance with the demons for a very long time, but there is a pretty great reason.

The stupid part is what makes the Grand Commendanter think the demons will even think twice about killing him and his whole Dark order on sight.
