I found out that someone is translating the novel for Her Mountain, Her Ocean and it whips. Not finished yet, though. Wonder if the ending is just as abrupt. God I'm sick of waiting on translators for stuff. I should take a class.

recent haibane renmei posts got me thinking about how much i loved it 20 years ago and maybe i should try watching again, so i looked up to see if there was a blu ray, and ok i know inflation's been bad these last few years but   anyway, i will recommend Blue-Green Saudade which just wrapped up satisfyingly at 19 chapters, and despite a pretty dark opening i think is a very well done and ultimately uplifting lifting series about gender/sexuality and parenting (also has a side character one of the mc's daughter, who is wonderful)

I read the first volume of A Man Who Defies the World of BL, a comedy about a background character who realizes that he lives in a world designed for men to fall in love with each other. It’s very funny Edit: I forgot to bring it up before but Fantagraphics is launching a new imprint called Takumigraphics which focuses on manga and one of their flagship series is Wandering Son. This is not exactly a novel observation, but it’s very interesting how much Korean GL is absolutely saturated with white hot rage at the patriarchy. There seems to be a feeling among authors that queer women’s issues are inseparable from the miserable plight of women in general. Probably some interesting takeaways about how that’s less true of Japanese GL, but that might just be a consequence of the latter’s focus on younger characters and high school settings.

Ultimately its a mix of things. Yuri as genre has less emphasis so as a whole things tend to be less box in, and yeah the men's rights movements.

My Girlfriend is Devilishly Sweet is back up on there and a few more chapters along. Meeting mom went surprisingly well and I'm glad it hasn't (hopefully not 'yet') led to an annoying meddling arc. It's just cute as hell and the failgirl tendencies are real.
