Slayton had an okay chance at that ball but it never should've been in question in the first place. Being under pressure doesn't excuse a pointlessly long and direct throw, Slayton literally had to accelerate and run as fast as he possibly could to even get a hand on that ball, which you can see in the video. If he puts like six inches more air under that thing it's an easy pitch and catch. Look at Stafford's throw to a wide open Kupp week 1 for reference. Stafford knew he was wide open so he threw a nice soft, catchable ball that didn't require Kupp to accelerate instantly and was a guaranteed TD. That's how this throw should've looked, but instead it was a bullet of a 50 yard throw. Basically they are both at fault because Danny turned what should've been an easy catch into a pretty drat hard catch. If I had the opportunity to ask him a punting question I'd ask why the nearly universal 3 personal protector system in college doesn't work (or is not worth it) in the NFL. Is it all just because there are no rugby kicks for professional punters or is it a coverage thing? And should there occasionally be a little roll out looking for a fake opportunity leading to rugby kicks? Feel like I could ask him a lot of questions about punting that he might actually deign to answer, not because they're good questions but because he'd like to answer them.

It's amazing how Bill has tamed the media so thoroughly in NE that he will only ever answer questions that interest him genuinely. I don't even say that as a negative.
