En los noventas, SNK tenía su propia consola, la afamada Neo-Geo, que permitió que las maquinitas tuviesen cartuchos intercambiables, pero lamentablemente murió dos veces. Actualmente están en un período de no morir, ¡así que hay que celebrar! ¿Qué es King of Fighters? KOF es la serie de juegos más popular de SNK. Es un juego de peleas en formato 3-contra-3 protagonizado por una gran cantidad de personajes del pasado de KOF y SNK. ¿Alguna vez quisiste que Terry Bogard golpeara a uno de los Ikari Warriors? Bueno, ¡esta es tu oportunidad! No es 3-contra-3 como los juegos de Marvel; es un juego de 1 contra 1 con tres personajes. Es fácil de entender, no te apures. ¿Por qué es este juego tan popular en China y México? En los Estados Unidos, Canadá y el Reino Unido, las salas de juegos (o “maquinitas”) tenían suficiente dinero para comprar las máquinas de juegos de Capcom, que son más caras. En los países menos ricos, la económica consola Neo-Geo era más popular. ¿Por qué comprar una sola maquina/gabinete de video-juegos que solo pueda jugar a Super Street Fighter 2 cuando podrías hacerlo con una máquina Neo-Geo y tener un sistema que puede correr cualquier otro juego de Neo-Geo? Esta división continúa hasta el día de hoy con KOF siendo más popular en América Latina, Medio Oriente, China y Europa Central. ¿Cuál es el juego más nuevo? KOF XV estará disponible a la venta el 17 de febrero de 2022 en PS4, PS5, Steam, EGS y Xbox Series X/S (saldrá el 15 de febrero si realizas una pre-orden). ¿Cómo están las retas en línea? ¡Van a estar bien chidas! Tiene el ROLLBACK NETCODE que es la misma tecnología que tienen los modos en linea de slippi y Guilty Gear Strive (pero no sus lobbis), ¡así que espera conexiones chéveres! ¿Quiénes estarán en el juego? 13 equipos de tres, pero no todos los participantes han sido revelados aún. ¿Qué juego(s) debería de jugar para practicar y ponerme a la fecha? Básicamente 02 o 98. 02UM es tu mejor opción por el hecho de que está barato y tiene ROLLBACK NETCODE. We're here to talk about SNK's flagship series and all the good stuff. Who are SNK? SNK is a classic game dev studio, famous for their arcade games. They were the Pepsi to Capcom's Coke. SNK had their own console in the 90s, the Neo-Geo, which brought interchangeable cartridges to the arcade, but sadly died twice. They're currently in a period of not dying, so rejoice! What's King of Fighters? KOF is SNK's most popular game series. It's a 3v3 fighter starring a dream match of characters from KOF and SNK's past. Ever wanted Terry Bogard to beat up one of the guys from Ikari Warriors? Well, here's your chance! It's not 3v3 like Marvel; it's a 1v1 game with three characters. It's easy to understand, don't worry about it. Why is this game so popular in China and Mexico? In the US, Canada and Britain, arcade operators had enough money to buy the more expensive Capcom arcade machines. In less rich countries, the inexpensive Neo-Geo was more popular. Why buy a single arcade cabinet that can only play Super Street Fighter 2 when you could by a Neo-Geo machine and have a system that can play any other Neo-Geo game? This divide continues to this day with KOF being more popular in Latin America, the Middle East, China and Central Europe. What's the new game? KOF XV coming out February 17, 2022 on PS4, PS5, Steam, EGS and Xbox Series (coming out February 15 if you preorder on console). How's the netplay? Gonna be pretty cool! It has ROLLBACK NETCODE which is the same technology that powers slippi and Guilty Gear Strive's online (but not its lobbies), so look forward to smooth connections! Who's in the game? 13 teams of three, but not all are revealed yet. What game(s) should I play to practice up for it? Basically 02 or 98. 02UM is your best bet because it's cheap and has ROLLBACK NETCODE. KOF14 is good, but it doesn't have rollback and it never goes on sale. Pick 02 up on Steam and go hog wild! Reasons why SNK Went out of business part 3.5: That time SNK sponsored a race team When you think of the arcades, you think of a lot of games. One genre that sticks out is driving. Initial D, Daytona, Ridge Racer, Hang On, all classics of game. SNK never really got into the driving game.... IN THE ARCADES!!! Look at this:  Who thought this was a good idea? For some reason in 1994, SNK decided to sponsor Team Shinsuke Motorsports, an endurance motorcycle racing organization. Why? I have no idea. I've used the term "cocaine thinking" before when it comes to SNK, but this is the most cocaine thought.  I have no trivia for you, no answers as to why this happened, just artifacts of a day gone by.  This happened in 94 (when it all began), so SNK is doing alright. They could take the hit. But like, why do this? It make no sense. At least when Sega sponsored Arsenal they were sponsoring a loving Premier League club. This isn't Formula-1 or NASCAR! Who cares about endurance motorcycles? But you already know who it is. SNK went bankrupt twice, this looks like complete insanity.
