Oh okay, I didn't realize you had a PAL unit. The NTSC ones only had rgb capability for like two motherboard revisions (out of like 12)

The thing that got me obsessed with video quality was I was in HS and my friend called me and said he accidentally bought the wrong cables for his Dreamcast, would I mind swapping with him because he knew my TV had the connection and I reluctantly said yes. Anyway they were s video cables and my eyes almost popped out of my head when I saw the Sega logo when I turned it on to make sure it worked. Before that I didn't know what s video was, I just thought it was an alternate connection. Props to my dad for buying a TV with s video in the first place.

I could never go back after that

The worst system to get s video or higher out of is the NES because it's some weird system where the video chip literally doesn't support it so you actually have to replace the PPU which is a major pain in the rear end but so worth it

Enjoy gamer

big deal

we had a big rear end CRT for years (i think it filled an empty fireplace) and always used composite inputs, but for some reason or another we got an S-video cable for gamecube while we were playing Wind Waker. maybe we had it already but i tried it out one day and it was amazing. extremely blurry wind waker to slightly blurry wind waker was a hell of an upgrade.

i did the rgb mod and everything looks sharp af. i think the trade off is i now need to commit to one region since all my pal cartridges work great but my ntsc everdrive games arent syncing correctly :sweatdrop:

What system? A rgb mod shouldn't really affect syncing with different regions

I am guessing by syncing you mean they are running at the wrong speed slightly?

Open up the Everdrive; there's a switch inside that allows you to switch between PAL OR NTSC (also known as the PORN switch); chances are it's set to NTSC. Make sure to change the switch to PAL, even if you are going to be running NTSC roms.

With that switch set to PAL, your NTSC games will run at the proper 60hz. I know it sounds like the opposite of how it should work, and that's why I am willing to bet that's where your problem is.

Also your PS1 isn't really left on composite; they all can do s-video. You just need the Sony s-video a/v cables. They work on everything from the PS1 to the PS3, so if you find PS3 s-video cables, those will work on your PS1.

ive got an x7 which auto detects so it has security screws and no switch. what i mean is this http://etim.net.au/n64rgb/instructions-new/ if you scroll down to finishing up, i had to solder the 3 jumpers to set my board to pal rgb scart. so my pal cartridges work awesome, but what I suspect is this is messing with the encoding when it switches to ntsc though as the board can either only output pal or ntsc?? maybe i described it wrong but i get a blue screen soon as i launch a rom from the everdrive and if i open a menu on the tv i can kind of see the game running but everything is flickering and not lined up which seemed like it's out of sync to the display.

i think due to the nature of the board it means it's putting out a pal signal while the game is forcing an ntsc picture and it's making the tv freak out. if that's the case it's nbd, i just wont use the cartridges again, the only one worth really using was goldeneye since i had everything unlocked and i can just download a save file to fix that. when i get home i'll solder suck the jumpers and see if that's the case either way

60fps is too fast for your paltard brain im afraid. Stick with your 20% slowdown games and pal only master sysstem games in their native refresh rate kiddo :kakshi: :jihad:

im a born and bred pc gamer so frankly 60fps is far too low for me when im used to a buttery smooth 125fps at minimum. 60 is basically slow motion, which why all console game are easy to me

The Pelican/Mad Catz or whoever's s-video switches from the early 00s all work really well and are super cheap. Incredibly I've never seen one that messed with the picture quality no matter how cheap they were.

pelican made an s-video and component switcher that even had spdif and works with an IR remote

I used to have a huge video game collection because I never got rid of anything even the crappy little pack in minigames on floppy discs that came with the toys from the movie Independence Day. When I moved out of my Mom's house after college. It stayed in boxes in my mom's basement until she got sick of it and moved from apartment to apartment with me and mostly stayed packed up unless I wanted to replay Earthbound. Eventually it all disappeared out of my locked bedroom when I was renting a room somewhere sketchy. Ever since I've been strictly digital but I still get the urge to collect so I go all in on whatever free or super cheap games I can get ahold of. I tell myself I'll start a real collection and make it look nice if I ever actually by a house, but I live in NYC now so that'll probably be never. I torture myself by looking up how much some of my rarer stuff would be worth if I still had it.
