this is the arcade "collection" i have at the back of my house; pic is kinda old, i got rid of half of the bar stools and now have a 2 player Virtual Boy setup on the table

they are all originals with arcade CRTs, but i modified the TMNT control panel so it could play every MAME game possible. i had to flash a specific video card with a weird firmware to support the really weird arcade resolutions but everything looks identical to real arcade boards now.

the crusin USA and Megatouch XL are untouched, other than the Megatouch was modified with a CF card reader to replace the CD ROM drive and also upgrade it to the last Titanium update

i also have an NBA Jam cab in my garage but no idea what to do with it

as for console stuff i have like 35 physical switch games but other than that i got rid of a lot of my collection because it was taking up way too much space. as it is now, my game collection setup is pretty much merged with my record collection due to space:

this is the console set up, the only real impressive thing of note is they are all hooked up at one time and can be played at any time with a press of a button on the logitech remote:

i am kinda screwed if any new consoles come out lol

yeah the aftermarket shells are super expensive on ebay now. a few sites used to sell them but not any longer.

GametechUS has been selling a lot of new clear shells for the snes, saturn, and dreamcast so keep an eye out; he might do one for the PS1 especially since there's hdmi mods for it now

I still have a decent amount of my gb, gba, and ngpc games so I’ve been thinking bout becoming a handheld gaming collector. I’ve been peeping gameboy mods for a few months and there’s a lot of cool ones but I don’t know if i have the patience or talent for that

Most of the mods for the Gameboy these days can be done with zero soldering. Even the ones that do require it, it ends up being like one wire.

My favorite of all the mods I've done is the Gameboy Color, modded with the FreckleShack screen and a speaker amp. The speaker amp requires a little soldering but it's not necessary. It makes the GBC so loud you can hear it on another floor of your house.

yeah the DS Lite screen is pretty bad.

After years of research I have come to the conclusion that visually speaking, the best way to play GB, GBC, and GBA games is a modded DSi XL.

if youre going to be modding the console you might as well mod a 3DS so you can play Every Nintendo Handheld

yeah, having both is ideal; I just really like the DSi XL for the dual IPS screens (they all have them) and the 1:1 pixel ratio for DS, GBA, and GB games look amazing

Lynx is one of the rare consoles I don't own, and have never even played. I never even knew anyone who had one, and I knew people who had a 3do, Neo Geo, and CDi

I always thought the flip screen button was awesome though.

I still feel like an idiot for not buying it from Lik Sang back in like 2002 or whenever it came out. I couldn't justify the $300 price tag for it and now if you want a working one you're looking in the $800 range. Also the front reflective part is ridiculously scratch prone so any you find on eBay most likely will look like poo poo.

There's a lot of stupid things about it though like the spdif port doesn't work for gamecube games and the component port doesn't work for DVDs lol

Still can't believe they actually bothered to make a Gameboy player for it

*nervously* going to rgb mod my n64

It's definitely one of the easier mods as long as you're somewhat comfortable with soldering. Just make sure your motherboard is one of the earlier revisions or else it won't work.

Let me know if you need any help

Oh okay, I didn't realize you had a PAL unit. The NTSC ones only had rgb capability for like two motherboard revisions (out of like 12)

im now completely addicted to component and s-video lol. Only my ps1 is left on composite....

The thing that got me obsessed with video quality was I was in HS and my friend called me and said he accidentally bought the wrong cables for his Dreamcast, would I mind swapping with him because he knew my TV had the connection and I reluctantly said yes. Anyway they were s video cables and my eyes almost popped out of my head when I saw the Sega logo when I turned it on to make sure it worked. Before that I didn't know what s video was, I just thought it was an alternate connection. Props to my dad for buying a TV with s video in the first place.

I could never go back after that

The worst system to get s video or higher out of is the NES because it's some weird system where the video chip literally doesn't support it so you actually have to replace the PPU which is a major pain in the rear end but so worth it

Enjoy gamer

i did the rgb mod and everything looks sharp af. i think the trade off is i now need to commit to one region since all my pal cartridges work great but my ntsc everdrive games arent syncing correctly :sweatdrop:

I am guessing by syncing you mean they are running at the wrong speed slightly?

Open up the Everdrive; there's a switch inside that allows you to switch between PAL OR NTSC (also known as the PORN switch); chances are it's set to NTSC. Make sure to change the switch to PAL, even if you are going to be running NTSC roms.

With that switch set to PAL, your NTSC games will run at the proper 60hz. I know it sounds like the opposite of how it should work, and that's why I am willing to bet that's where your problem is.

Also your PS1 isn't really left on composite; they all can do s-video. You just need the Sony s-video a/v cables. They work on everything from the PS1 to the PS3, so if you find PS3 s-video cables, those will work on your PS1.

also sick, kind of annoying i only have one s-video plug and currently 2 consoles plugged into it... might have to move the snes to component as well

The Pelican/Mad Catz or whoever's s-video switches from the early 00s all work really well and are super cheap. Incredibly I've never seen one that messed with the picture quality no matter how cheap they were.

pelican made an s-video and component switcher that even had spdif and works with an IR remote
