It is Friday. It is lunch-time. It is 1959. It is New York! I am going to get my shoes cleaned and then eat dinner. I don't know where yet! I buy a hamburger and a malted and a book for big kids. It is about what the poets in Ghana are doing these days. I go to the bank and buy a book at the bookstore. It has drawings in it, so I buy it instead of other books. I buy my friend Mike some juice. I also buy some for myself! I buy something else at a different store. Billie Holiday is on the cover of the newspaper! She was a famous singer. I am getting sweaty! I remember Billie Holiday. I had to go potty and stayed there. I was watching Billie Holiday. I was listening to the music. I was at the 5 Spot. I couldn't breathe and neither could anybody else.
