It's my turn to be positive. I'm a fairly private person - I generally keep my business as my business, but here goes:

I'm 6 years sober, 3 years on antidepressants, and I feel good most days. I have a cool dog, and recently I took him to meet a lady on our first date. That was nearly four months ago, and we are planning family Christmas together now.
It's a pretty far cry from dying drunk, alone and unmourned, which is all I thought there was left for me.

Thanks for reading and, and I really mean this, have a good day!

Congrats! Especially on the cool dog

A few years ago the images that accompanied old onion articles were lost, which were critical to many classic stories. Recently they fixed that so that’s good.

Bought a bag of pretzel chips that were ok on their own, then I tried dipping them in spicy mustard and got a new go to snack.

I officially passed 65 pounds lost and weigh 250 for the first time in 10 years.

If I can keep it up (and I have every reason to think I can), I’ll enter weight territory I haven’t been in since college, some 15ish years ago.

220 is my high school weight so there’s that to look forward to as well. A “healthy” weight for someone my age and height is about 190ish (and that’s my end goal. Finally feels within reach and :feelsgood:)

That's good news!

Have been watching episodes of the 2001 horror anthology show Night Visions. Pretty hit or miss although with each story only having 20 minutes or so it keeps up a decent pace and fun to play “hey it’s that guy.” Baffling decision to have Henry Rollins host as even he doesn’t seem to know why he’s there, but it is fun when he declares the moral of a story to be “leave strangers alone!”

One story stood out as it was both directed by and stars Bill Pullman, and then surprised me by being one of the most fun little horror stories I’d seen in a long while. Don’t want to spoil anything: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7aAY57plRYQ

Got around to rewatching Andy Daly’s Review, still amazing & I like the attention to continuity & how James Urbaniak is nudging him to ruin his life. Picking up details like how from the start Daly is out of pocket for all expenses but never questions it even when he’s paying $200k for space tickets or $40k for a five minute cameo.

Pancakes Divorce Pancakes is one of the greatest tv eps of all time.

Also got around to watching the Onion’s Porkin Across America & that was also great and feels like a Review prequel.

The new RoboCop documentary is incredibly good, when I heard about it I thought it was going to be fans wandering old sets but they got interviews with everyone from the director to main actors and all the staff with tons of new info I didn't know. It's so cool hearing about themes and production stories from Verhoeven, along with absurd trivia like how they called the junior executive back for reshoots just to spend an entire day having squibs go off on his body, or how the SWAT commander was supposed to be two roles but an actor in one of the roles came to Dallas two days early and impressed them enough they gave him both parts. The whole doc is on prime.

Elderly family member had been declining mentally/physically last few years due to brain fluid issue, I think hydrocephalus & had resigned to expecting it to keep getting worse but doctors gave option of surgery to put in shunt to permanently drain fluid although they didn’t get our hopes up it would be a guarantee of improvement.

About two weeks later he doesn’t need walker anymore & is easily getting up & moving around & is mentally so much more with it it’s like night & day. Tons of other stuff like again wanting to read books rather than flip through newspaper & enjoying life. So that’s good.
