Is the media exaggerating to promote it or are there actually that many Bond fans? I’m glad people are going the cinema because I want Dune to do well and get a sequel but I think even without Partridge parodying Bond fans the films surely only appeal to a certain type of Home Counties dickhead.

You're missing a whole middle-aged - elderly female demography here - class and location irrelevant - whose hearts have a little pitter patter "Take me, Dzjames, take me" at a masterful man, especially when he actually did a woman older than him in whichever one Monica Bellucci was in* for all of 5 minutes but all the women's magazines had articles about Bond and the Older Woman in them.

(I'm not one of those. More of a Russell Crowe woman myself.)

Johnson is a considerably better example of what our intelligence officers get up to - shouting a lot, demanding special treatment, and rutting like a boar, yet somehow escaping any consequences for any of it.

Having an opinion on the next James Bond should disqualify you from most facets of adult life, certainly from an involvement in politics.

Watch the movies, fine, it's big dumb action film nonsense. But next Bond is so banal and Brits seem to spend 1 20th of their life thinking about it

James Bond is the Sonic the Hedgehog of films - cracking theme tunes, occasionally great moments, has enough fun elements that make you wish it was better than it frequently is, somehow doesn't stop you looking back on it wistfully in a way that's hard to actually justify.

A lot of people probably have some nostalgia for it, because it's been around for 60 odd years and they watched one or two or many as a child. That's sort of how I feel about it anyway having grown up watching some of them with my dad. I don't particularly care about the series, I do think that a lot of its films are complete guff, but there are still fond memories there and I'm vaguely interested if it sounds like they've made one of the occasional not poo poo ones

Skyfall was a bad, boring and stupid movie and I'll die on that hill.

But it was still better than Spectre. "Remember how ludicrous it was in the last film when the villain had perfectly manipulated events to be exactly where he wanted to be at a precise time, even though there were countless potential points of failure and an almost infinite number of variables he couldn't possibly predict? We're going to quintuple-down on that with an arch-villain who not only secretly controlled the events of the previous three movies, but is also James Bond's previously-unmentioned adoptive brother, and oh yes, he's Blofeld!"

I have a vague memory of a james bond film where they're being chased by a helicopter and the helicopter corners them in an alley and then it pitches forward and chops through the buildings with the rotors and starts coming towards them, and they do like a sick motorbike slide under the rotors and the helicopter crashes.

It's the stupidest loving thing lmao.

What annoys me most about modern Bond is that to my ears Adele is clearly singing flat in the song Skyfall, and doesn't hit any of the high notes. It's like listening to T2 - Heartbroken. To me it's like "how did this get released".

This is the oddly brutal opening to Die Another Day, a film otherwise about space lasers and invisible cars.

Bond is, correctly or not, perceived as one of the symbols of British cinema production, one of our pitifully few post-Brexit industries.

There's a distinct possibility that my wife and I are going to have to move from Fife, Scotland to Exeter in January. Unfortunately, while my wife has her driver's license here, I don't yet (I'm Canadian and have to take a driving test to switch my license to a UK one, but COVID delays have meant that I can't any time soon). This pretty much rules out us renting a truck and then moving that way, so I'm considering pod or container delivery services.

Has anyone had experience with moving within the UK via pod or container delivery? Any advice, either in how to proceed or what companies are good/bad?

The Craig bond films have overall been disappointing personally, mostly because Casino Royal was genuinely fantastic, but every one since has gotten sillier but also tried to take itself serious like Casino did. The Brosnan ones were were dumb but at least they knew it.
