its fun when someone from a different organization invites you to a teams meeting and if you click on the join meeting button from outlook it creates an infinite loop of launching a browser tab that tries to launch a teams session that launches a browser tab etc. the only fix is to close teams and click on the join in browser button before it can reopen teams

its actually unironically very cool and good that windows 10 has a built-in 3d object viewer so you can preview .obj files without loading up blender or something equally heavy

Microsoft has a incredible ability to make things they have complete control over not work. reminds me of an error I encountered where for months I could not install windows 10 updates (tried all the troubleshooting steps multiple times) until I find a random reddit post saying to disable a certain windows mixed reality service and it actually worked

my htpc likes to reset itself to stereo output whenever it wakes from sleep but if I just adjust the windows volume so it makes that sound it remembers it’s supposed to be 5.1. truly baffling behavior and running a program that produces sound doesn’t fix it like adjusting the volume specifically from the notification area does

teams has new unsightly animated emoji. but you can also use the system emoji picker and it uses the system emoji font for those. good use of engineering resources there

In desperation I installed windows 11 and it seems to have fixed the specific issue I was having. and honestly it’s not that much worse than windows 10, which made me realize I had gotten used to how annoying windows 10 was in the first place

microsoft laid off an ethics and society team that was supposed to guide ai development. on one hand, too on the nose to even be funny. on the other, I’m sure they had exactly zero influence ever and there are three other teams with an identical purview still operating somewhere in the ms hierarchy

I maintain the wmr home is much better than steam vr home, better optimized, much faster to load , easier to interact with. ms weirdly had a much better handle on vr interactions than valve to start with

I mostly use it because it comes with my office 365 family subscription tbh

windows 11 fixed my persistent audio stuttering caused by dpc latency issues. thats the best thing i can say about it.Best Bi Geek Squid posted:hoping ms is just getting all the Bad Windows out with 11 so they can have a Good Windows after this lol
