Shaggar posted:i think outlook may be so bad these days that notes, which hasnt changed in 20 years, may now be a better for email. yesterday i was locked out of my email for a little while because a server-side log file filled up, which causes a constant error dialog in the client when trying to do anything. they had to do manual maintenance on the server to clear it out.

oh cool, xbox game pass just quit installing anything. google consensus is that since the two or three things to reset haven't fixed it, i get to do a full wipe and reinstall of windows if i want this to ever work again. this is so much better than steam !!

Gentle Autist posted:tbf i’ve had to do this in macos on occasion to get networking to work at all. i guess i musta been on a network that didn’t have ipv6 routing set up right this is apparently a problem unique to a combination of game pass and windows 11. everything else on the system could download stuff just fine.

you can't have a single electron runtime on the system because then electron would be like java and all the javascript programmers have spent their entire careers being extremely smug about not being like java

Cybernetic Vermin posted:personally i care fantastically little about the "look at this old bit of ui in windows", if i got to choose between having all windows 11 ui suddenly updated to the "modern" style or the "visual search" button on images in edge disappearing forever i'd certainly go for the latter. despite the fact that you can turn the latter off in two clicks (issue being that updates sometime forget that setting, because microsoft are so loving annoying about this stuff). nah the 20 different ui styles sucks rear end and is indicative of a massive lack of quality control

Cybernetic Vermin posted:lol, no, what is indicative of a lack of quality control is the lack of quality control. i would also be up for microsoft putting some of the old ui back if they'd spend 5 minutes debugging some of the new stuff in trade. oh so you're one of those "ux doesn't matter and isn't real development" people, gotcha
