BING CHAT ENTERPRISE

quote:

Microsoft’s Bing Chat Enterprise is now available in the Windows Copilot preview.

First introduced to Bing.com and the Edge sidebar in July, Bing Chat Enterprise allows companies to use Microsoft’s AI-powered chatbot without having to worry about their conversations being used to train its underlying model.

Now Microsoft will let companies access the chatbot in Windows Copilot as well, with the launch of it in preview for “eligible commercial customers in the Dev channel.”

the narrative that windows phone was killed "too soon" or that there was one thing that led to its failure is pure nostalgia

many, many individual bad choices were made over the course of years to get it to what was essentially an untenable market position
how many times did they do a complete clean-sheet reboot from scratch of the entire project? three, four, more? no wonder app makers stopped bothering to make winpho versions of their products

"please support our os - sure you may to completely scrap and redo everything in 18 months, but its totally worth it for that 2% market share we represent" - not a great value proposition

its really hard to break an entrenched monopoly, especially in a space where there isnt much potential for growth (like office suites). every percentage point of market share you earn has to be ripped away from the dominant player

indesign replacing quark as the primary software for publishing is about the only example i can think of, and that was only possible because quark fumbled the ball in the most spectacular way imaginable

when you would image a machine with xp and then connect it to the internet to download the latest updates it was a race to see if it could download and install those updates before the machine was port-scanned and attacked
