How many people would you need to move, physically, to guarantee both a heavily, uncontestable blue map in 2024, and victory for some number of actual progressives in key places?

I wonder how this compares to the number of reliably left voting workers who are currently fully remote and might be willing to go live someplace otherwise undesirable to them for long enough to be registered voters in nov 2024? Or even 2022; it doesn't even appear to me that the required length of time is that long, most places? One would need a physical address, mail, actual residency.

I love where I live and it would suck to be isolated from my family for a while and have to travel a distance to see them, but if this was something that was feasible based on math and had organized momentum behind it, I personally would go rent some cheap place with internet access for as long as needed, gently caress it.

Does anyone have a clue what the numbers look like and if this is a pipe dream or something that's possible?

libertarians tried something like that with new hampshire in the early 00s and it fizzled out almost immediately

I remember the heady days of late 2008 when people, including myself, thought the republicans were on their way to being a rump southern region party. Amazing how bad the democrat party is to completely reverse that trend in barely more then a decade.

I feel like an important life lesson I've learned is that whenever folks are seriously talking about how the republican party is finished for good it actually means they're about to take control. Been true longer than I've been alive.

Predict It, and the betting odds there are overwhelmingly favoring republicans right now unless you wanna bet that the dems will keep the house while losing the senate (truly wild bet to make imo) in which case you'd get a huge return if something that wildly stupid happens.

While it's true the Democrats are going to get destroyed, anecdotes like this kind of confuse me. My own anecdotal experience is that liberals (in the sense of people who strongly identify as liberals/Democrats) are completely unwilling to speak negatively about Democrats (and particularly the President) because they perceive it as, in some way, being soft on Republicans (or, even worse, Trump!).

The main reason I think they're going to get owned is that hardly anyone who isn't a committed Democrat is going to vote for them, but it still surprises me to hear about strongly partisan Democrats having negative opinions about Biden.

My own anecdotal experience with liberal family members and acquaintances is that they focus on hating Manchin and Sinema for blocking Biden's agenda. Can't quite convince them that it'd be happening no matter how many dem senators were elected, though!
