🚣RowboatMan: ❄️Freezing time🕰️ is an old P.I. 🥧trick...

Greetings goons far and near, young and old! It is time for the...

:siren: SOMETHING AWFUL XMAS ALBUM MUSIC THREAD THINGY mk 2021!! :siren:

Yes, that's right; the moment Halloween ends, Awful Xmas season BEGINS!

Here's a bit of a Q and A for those of you just joining us:

Q: What is this about? I've heard of it but never really looked into it.
A: Since 2009, every year, goons both musical and not come together to create an entire album of both awful and awesome home-grown Christmas music!

Q: I don't have any instruments.
A: I don't care! You can still join in! Collab with someone else! Do artwork! Come up with lyrics or song ideas! It's worked in the past! Hell, even posting ITT and cheering everyone on is a wonderful idea!

Q: Ok, so I made a thing, what do I do now?
A: You upload it to Soundcloud or even google drive, but there are two important rules to this!
:siren:
Rule 1: When you post your song, include the words Kristopher Kringle says hello in your post. It helps me separate the submissions from the 'oh man, this song was great!' reposts (which are fine, but I don't want to start downloading old songs)
Rule 2: Speaking of downloading, MAKE SURE YOUR TRACK IS DOWNLOADABLE. This is extremely important! Every year, I take all of the tracks, compile them, order them, and then upload a zip file that gets shared around. I WILL be putting last year's and this year's album up on my site.

Q: Where can I listen to older tracks?
A: https://saxmas.bandcamp.com/ and also my personal site, https://saxmas.robotcousin.com/ (yes, I need to also put 2017-2019 up, I'll get to it).

Q: Does this have anything to do with Ernest?
A: No, I just love Jim Varney :rip:

:siren: THE DUE DATE IS THE STROKE OF MIDNIGHT IN YOUR CHOSEN TIME ZONE, DECEMBER 21st 2021 :siren:

Also...

:siren:

If you all could provide FLAC files from the get-go, that really, REALLY helps later on, as I convert them.

:siren:

So get to it, goons! It is my favourite time of year, sort of partially maybe because of you all.

Also, sometimes I tweet about this stuff, and I always use #awfulxmas so feel free to do the same, and we can be donned with gay apparel together.

I'll update the OP as stuff moves along. If anyone wants to provide some links to either past threads, OR favourites, I don't mind posting them here. SPECIAL NOTE: I'll be compiling tracks as they're uploaded/posted, so I won't be leaving everything to the last drat minute like last year. This means that shortly after the last track is uploaded/posted, I should have the album pretty much ready to go!

This is massively informative!

Flipperwaldt posted:

It's the most wonderfult time of the year! Lucky number 13. Thanks Rupert Buttermilk for hosting once again!

I collected some links last year. There's some overlap with what's in the OP already.

The Commando voice lines from Command and Conquer - Tiberian Dawn. Was kinda trying to ape the C&C soundtrack vibe.

I've used this front end for ffmpeg on account of it having a portable version. I don't remember if I had to download ffmpeg manually though.

VLC can probably do it out of the box. Or MediaMonkey. For a small number of files, you could probably use one of the cloud service websites that come up when you google flac to mp3.

I don't have an answer for you, but I will, just for GBS-FM, export two versions this year; mp3 and FLAC.

Speaking of!

Nah, you're good, and I'm not going to hold anyone's stockings to the fire if they mess this up; I'm just asking for it to be done, as it REALLY helps, but I'll still accept tracks regardless.
