Wife sends a complaint to the nursing board about the guy and they say they don’t investigate these things but pass the complaint into the pain clinic who have a secretary call her and say her care is terminated because she complained about the nurse. So now she has to start again somewhere else to try and get something done about her spine issues and the board who are supposed to you know look into jackasses copping a feel doesn’t look into jackasses copping a feel and the advice she has been given is to report it to the police as a sexual assault. She has been through that before a long time ago and expects it to go no where. These fuckers need to be impaled outside their offices as a warning to others. I'm sorry you have to deal with this bullshit. My wife is a nurse and I can say that it's not that terrible everywhere, but there are certainly plenty of lovely people in healthcare, just like there are plenty of lovely people everywhere. Def not an excuse and you should absolutely stand up for and advocate for your wife, it's just sad that you have to. Being a patient advocate is literally what these shitheels are paid to do.

I did work nights at a hospital when I was a motorcycle mechanic so I could get health insurance, but those schedules never intersected. I just went from one job straight to the other and slept on Sunday/Monday.

If you just want to give it a try, the smallest one is :20bux:.

That seems like a lot of work though.

I just got a BA in Communications and double majored in French so I could dick around and get high or whatever for 4 years. Somehow managed to stretch it into 5 years because I got busted for smoking pot and the college kicked me out for a year before deciding that I was apparently a good student (no idea who the gently caress told them that) and not worthless and so they let me back in.
Assholes should have just expelled me and saved me some money.
Worst part was, it's not like I had a w year degree from them or anything either and if I didn't come back and start a new semester on good academic standing with them then I wouldn't even have been able to transfer anywhere.

ahhh god the memories are all flooding back...

e: oh I just recalled convincing a bunch of rich people to let me throw a gala in the school owned art museum to fund raise for my senior project.
I just remember thinking that 2Ci was bunk right about the time I rolled up to the meeting and it kicked in. I don't recall much about the actual meeting itself but I wound up with a whole museum to throw a party in and someone even offered to contribute free catering services which was pretty cool.

The whole thing was actually kind of a bust though. I think our biggest donation came from the leader of a local biker gang just to spite "those rich assholes."

Christmas success! Everyone survived, but half the guests were uninvited last minute.
Wife had a bit of a panic attack and said said my family can't come over because she's afraid of covid. They've all been triple vaxxed and took tests before getting together and we had tests waiting for them here but whatever I'm not about to rub anyone's anxieties in their face. Just disappointed because it's literally the one day a year I get so see my sisters anymore, meanwhile she works in a hospital surrounded by covid cases and her parents have been staying over for 2 days.

Merry Christmas!
First Christmas with a kid.

Let's have a quick recap of Christmas Eve.
Kiddo wakes up at 0430. Wide awake.
Wife and I tried to get him back to sleep. Gave up at 0600. I went to the basement and got an hour of sleep.
Drove 2.5 hours to in-laws house in the snow. Baby shark sleeps in the car most of the way. Kid poo poo himself half a hour from destination.
Detour to other in-laws to change him. Found out that 3 people weren't coming, 2 have "colds" and 1 has COVID.
Arrive, lunch is served (5 day old cold cuts). Kid refuses first nap.
Family arrives. Kid refuses second nap. We're getting close to meltdown time. I strap on the carrier and walk up and down their road for 2 hours in 24°F snow. Kiddo sleeps most of that.
Dinner. Everyone fawns on him and compliments my wife about how happy and well behaved he is.
Presents. Kid loves it, and tears paper/pulls tissue paper out of bags. Everyone claims he's a genius, most have my wife's brains. Everyone tells us that their kids napped perfectly and slept through the night from day 1... For the thousandth time. Spoiler alert: they're lying
Stuff kiddo onto car seat and rock him to sleep at 1930. Everyone eats dessert while I rock him for an hour and wife packs car.
Depart 2030.
Arrive home at 2300. Start prep for Christmas breakfast and dinner at my house.
Sous vide set to 135° for the prime rib.
Custard made for french toast.
Unclog shower for brother in law. He stopped just in time to not overflow the shower pan.
Get to bed at 0115, just in time for baby shark to wake up crying.

I have 9 people coming over, of which I can tolerate 2 on a good day (wife and my mother)... I have to be up in 4.5 hours to put the roast in the water bath and get the French toast soaking.

Wish me luck!

NGL I kind of miss this because I am really good at doing everything and not sleeping.

We also had french toast. I made egg nog and then soaked the french bread in that.
I think next time I'm just gonna do regular french toast but add Cointreau.

Someone passed me on the right this morning doing 90+mph while flipping me the bird for cruising in the left lane.
It was deserved though. I was only going 75 in a 55 and left like 4 car lengths between me and the car ahead of me.
The funny part was the guy was driving a Dodge Caravan and almost smacked the wall when he whipped into the left lane before careening back and forth between the two lanes trying to regain control.

Slightly disappointed I didn't get to witness someone flip their minivan, but also relieved I didn't have to fill out a police report.

Listen!

So remember when I asked some audio nerds to help me out with some sound system profiling? I scaled back on my silly asks and I think I'm just going to go with a more simple system for the room in question, which is essentially an ADU off my garage thats 10x12, its going to be a tiki bar so style is a thing I'm after -

I found this thing :

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0851HGH73/ref=ox_sc_act_title_4?smid=A3LLMZ9K72U9P2&psc=1

before you get all "spend more and get x" - I've done a bit of looking and I feel like something like this would work for me, as well as become part of the style of the tiki bar - which is going to be like an indiana jones lookin outpost

my question is, if I was to run 2 of these:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08C7SJ2J3/ref=crt_ewc_img_dp_3?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A3LLMZ9K72U9P2

would that be enough to fill a room as I described with sound?

I've been slowly starting to understand impedance and basics of amplification - I kinda get it, kinda dont - I'm wondering if I could wire maybe 4 passive speakers to hit all 4 corners of the room... would that be enough, is it possible? Am I an idiot for thinking I can get out of this so cheap?

in other news, ive been oiling this antique 7' long gator hide for a few days... why? why not.

It depends on what you mean by "fill a room with sound."
The amp says it can apparently handle 35W @ 4ohm RMS but that only tells half the story. I'd like to know what the crossover is and see a speaker impedance graph before I make a recommendation. The sensitivity on those speakers is pretty terrible so they're going to suck a lot of power just to be audible. 85db @ 1W @ 1 meter. As a rule of thumb you lose about 6db for every meter of distance you put between yourself and the speaker so if you're across the room, then that 85db could be more like 67db at best and that's barely louder than a toilet flushing.
To achieve the 85db sound pressure level across the room, that amp would have to be cranked all the way up.

None of the calculations account for losses at certain frequencies though. That's a best case calculation on power alone. You start considering how much bottom end gets lost by the crossover and small driver size and you'll probably want a LOT more power just to be able to hear that sweet sweet bassline.

Will that setup make noise? Yes.
Will you be able to hear it over a crowd of people? Probably not very well.
Will you be able to hear it over a power drill? Definitely not.

I can pop it on to bluetooth and listen to my phone while I'm sitting alone in my palace of excess.

and right about here is where I realize I'm in over my head.
Bluetooth recievers are cheap and plentiful. I recommend a google chromecast audio if you are into the googlesphere of devices.
Rule of thumb is bigger drivers make it easier for the speaker to produce lower notes so it doesn't take as much power to produce louder bass. If you just want some light casual ambient music and don't need that bass then you're probably fine with whatever.
If you're going for a particular aesthetic with the amp then I'm probably not going to be much help, but if you want cheap power, check out some professional audio stuff like used Extron amps.
https://www.ebay.com/p/670459835

I've got a handfull and they're great. (don't sweat it if it doesn't come with the little plugs in the back, I think I can help you find some if I don't have any extras.) Just make sure you are looking at one that isn't a 70v or 100v model. Those are meant for something else entirely and will not work with "normal" 4 or 8ohm speakers. They are "high voltage" amps meant for speakers with step down transformers. It's usually denoted with a -70 or -100 in the model name.

I think monoprice has some competitively priced new stuff as well. https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=18513

As for speakers, I'm a big fan of big speakers and particularly DIY. But if you're just going for something that makes background noise, then pretty much whatever should work I suppose?
or you could get some outdoor speakers https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=13614

or whatever really... https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=24739

Did you say you were trying to go for 4 speakers?
I wouldn't wire speakers in series unless you're doing some 70v or 100v speakers that are meant for that. Wiring normal speakers in series halves the impedance and draws more power than most amps are designed for. Get something with 4 separate channels for that or get two 2channel amps.
