I really want to take up woodworking or whittling or something as a hobby. Mainly because I don't have a big house but there are lots of trees around and some space by the shed to sit and cut wood, and I want to spend less time with technology. Not sure whether to look for a class, or just get a knife and look at YouTube videos or something. Anyone here tried the same, or have any experience with it please?

If you do want to do woodworking as opposed to just whittling or carving you’ll need space for a bench though I'll take a look, thanks. I have space at the side for a bench yeah, we currently have a picnic bench that doesn't get much use so I'm wondering if it's easier to just adapt that somehow.

Voting rights need to be restored to prisoners. Everyone living in the country gets a vote, that's how it works, otherwise it's a sham.

Remember when Michael Gove wanted to get rid of prison books as well. It's all about the cruelty. 'Rehabilitation' is the public justification and nothing more.

I'm really glad I bought that Father Ted boxset second hand so glinner didn't get any money. Weirdly I don't find myself having trouble rewatching it given his radical terf meltdown seems so utterly divorced from the nature of his earlier shows, I guess because he made it before going completely insane.

Weren't there quite a few people on those lists from going to charity events or something, or is everybody suspect? I haven't been following the case so outside of the big names (Clinton, Spacey etc.) am unsure whether anything new came to light recently.

I love how 'people don't like me because I did bad things' is now 'CANCEL CULTURE IS OUT OF CONTROL! NOBODY IS SAFE AND YOU'LL BE NEXT!' I mean you just say you think there isn't enough islamophobia in modern politics and advocate having sex with children a few times and suddenly the woke elites won't sit and listen to you telling them what you think any more! Twitter made every idiot with a computer think they're in a 90's hacker movie and it's dumb as hell. I think one potential solution would be to make a fake training version of the internet (like Hypnospace Outlaw but with a convincing Chrome type UI and fake websites and everything) which comes preinstalled on all smartphones and tablet devices, and only lets people onto the real internet once they can puzzle their way through the training level. This constitutes a site dump of modern Facebook and Twitter but with no way for the user to interact with the outside world, but with a few private messages explaining how to access the real internet for anyone that can actually process basic information. Anyone that doesn't realise it's all meaningless bullshit has to stay there forever like in Black Mirror. Convex fucked around with this message at 14:30 on Dec 7, 2021 |
