Counterpoint: local elections matter a lot, actually, and often have little to do with either one of Both Sides. For example, I helped in a small way get three current or former students of mine elected to nonpartisan local government this fall. One of them started a commission on climate change mitigation and adaptation and another launched an investigation and strengthened oversight into alleged corruption and misuses of COVID relief funds. I'm not claiming any real credit for either of those but every time similar stuff got brought up in the previous thread it was just ignored in favor of (mostly) national politics.CommieGIR posted:Voting, Primaries, Parties, and Political Alignment.
