Bastard year 2021 is almost over! Now it’s time to guess where our sport is heading in the year 2022, surely a glorious period of time that won’t be soul-crushingly depressing in at least 500 different ways. The old thread will run until the actual end of this year. We'll see who ”won” in 2021 then. I’d love it if you’d look through your own predictions and post what you got right and wrong. Thanks to Forums Poster Benne for already checking off a big chunk of them! Anyway, here pretty much anything goes, you can predict match-ups and their outcomes, entire storylines, heel/face turns, championships changing hands, individual spots in matches, roster changes, injuries, retirements, debuts, PPV locations or lengths, it can be about what happens at the very first match of the year or maybe it'll be something we'll have to wait until December 31st 2022 for, it can be about one wrestler, one promotion or even trends in the medium of pro wrestling as a whole, star ratings, MOTYC/WMOTYC nominations - whatever you want, and don't limit yourself to the stuff I listed there. You can also make it as general or as specific as you like. People have taken very different approaches to predictions, check out last year’s predictions in this post. Let’s predict then, shall we? Predictions can be posted until this year ends (+ a couple of days maybe), then I’ll dump everyone’s guesses into the second post. You're allowed to edit your predictions however much you want until the deadline. ’em and when you get something right during the course of the year you can post about it as well!!! 2021 PREDICTION GAME WINNERS: STAR MAN (most impressively correct predictions): IceAgeComing A WINNER IS YOU (best percentage correct): A Fancy Hat 141 2/3 OUT OF 100: Guillermus A FOR EFFORT / VENOMOUS AWARD FOR VENOMOUS (tons of predictions, most of them wrong): Venomous ONE SHOT, ONE KILL (100% correct with one prediction): BrigadierSensible, Sanguinia 2020 PREDICTION GAME WINNERS: NOT SPOT ON BUT REALLY WELL DONE CONSIDERING THE CIRCUMSTANCES (most impressively correct predictions): Huntman PRETTY SURE YOU GOT THE BIGGEST PERCENTAGE OF PREDICTIONS RIGHT (APART FROM ONE-SHOTTERS) (best percentage correct (apart from posters with only one prediction)): Wazzu ONE SHOT, ONE KILL (100% correct with one prediction): Seth Rollins, Gumball Gumption, PublicOpinion A PESSIMIST'S DREAM (100% incorrect worst timeline predictions): Hefty Leftist A FOR EFFORT (tons of predictions, most of them wrong): Venomous FIGHT ISLAND's pro wrestling predictions for 2022 PART 1 GEORGE W BUSHI posted:- Tetsuya Naito wins the 2022 G1 which is back in the summer GEORGE W BUSHI posted:New Prediction - As part of the NJPW 50th Anniversary Celebrations, Keiji Mutoh will challenge the IWGP Champion at some point next year. I did terribly this year, looking forward to doing terribly the next as well NJPW - Okada will win the IWGP Championship at WK 2022 and hold it until WK 2023. - Gabriel Kidd will join Suzuki-Gun. - I will predict this again: At the end of the year Minoru Suzuki will not be the leader of Suzuki-Gun anymore but he will also not retire yet. Suzuki will instead focus even more on appearing for all kinds of promotions in Japan and US. - Hiromu Takahashi will win the NJC but fail his title shot. - Shingo Takagi will win the G1. - Juice Robinson won’t re-sign with NJPW and instead will continue to work with Impact. - YOSHI-HASHI will finally win singles gold in the form of the NEVER championship. - The STRONG Openweight title will be featured at a major show in Japan. - Ren Narita will return from excursion and take part in the BOSJ. AEW - There will be a major AEW talent who will jump to WWE main roster when they are offered a life-changing amount of money, blindsiding the fans. - There will be a Hangman vs Jungle Boy match for the AEW Championship but Jungle Boy will not win. Instead, he will win the TNT title. - The AEW Championship will change hands twice. MJF will be the champion at the end of the year. - Thunder Rosa will be the Women’s champion at the end of the year. - Jade Cargill will hold the TBS title at the end of the year. - The switch to TBS will be great for Dynamite, increasing the baseline viewer average to 1.2 million by June. WWE - Bron Breakker will win the NXT championship early next year and then get fast-tracked to the main roster. It will initially seem like WWE handles him well before he’s put into a heinously bad storyline and then jobbed out. - WWE will go back to hiring experienced indie wrestlers before the year is out as it turns out only seeking out people who don’t know anything about wrestling will result in a brutally green roster. - 205 and NXT UK will finally move on from purgatory as 205 is cancelled and NXT UK dissolved. Some NXT UK talent will jump to NXT2.0 but over half of the talent will be unceremoniously cut. - WWE will dig up the desiccated corpse of The Undertaker for one last match in Saudi Arabia. It will an easy WMOTY candidate. Finland - Liiga won't win the FCF tag team championship, with their reunification being a short-term thing - After teasing it this year, HC Andersen will actually retire from wrestling next year - Sebastian Vauhkonen will challenge for the FCF Championship but fail - Viktor Tykki will turn back heel and take the FCF Championship from his old rival Shemeikka - There won’t be any significant improvement in the relationship between FCF and SLAM. Only the same talent already shared between the promotions will continue to do so (Koura, Stark Adder, Polar Pekko, Viktor Tykki). Heimo Ukonselkä will not appear in FCF in 2022. Maybe I’ll add something later dunno

Y’all got around a week to get your predictions in or edit your existing ones! I’ve started the thread later and had the cutoff be Wrestle Kingdom before but this time it’ll be a day or two earlier, depending on when I start feeling like doing something after New Year’s.

Finally got around to doing this and god drat there were so many predictions for next year that they don't fit in a single post lol Okay, I'll edit one half into the first post and the other half into the second post, I guess. Good luck everyone, feel free to post if you get something right or horribly wrong during the course of the year! edit: Also if you made multiple posts that seemed like predictions to me I've tried to group them after each other. I think this one should still count since the actual spinoff still isn't really happening and all their planned content will still be on MLW Fusion, but I'll gladly take the hit if it eventually does. Judges? I’d say it’s half a point, it’s sort of a spinoff but not a full-blown one

YEAR 2022 HAS CONCLUDED SOME TIME AGO. IT IS TIME TO SEE WHO WAS THE PREDICTIONS MASTER!!!!! Let's start with the ONE SHOT, ONE KILL award recipients... Of which there's only one! Our ONLY sniper prophet in 2022 is mooseinfants! mooseinfants posted:- AEW will have their first 2-time world champion Incredible! There were several one-prediction posters who missed the mark but only one made as enormous a mistake as forums poster ARMBAR A COP... ARMBAR A COP posted:I'll toxx my account on this. There will be a Dynamite in 2022 with at least 3 women's matches. I checked. There was exactly ONE Dynamite with more than one women's match on the card, Dynamite #123 on February 9. That Dynamite had two women's matches. I'm sorry friend, looks like you'll have to report to the toxx thread... Up next we have the winner of the A FOR EFFORT / VENOMOUS AWARD FOR VENOMOUS award, which goes to Venomous! Venomous was actually able to improve to 19% correct from last year's 14.8%! Venomous posted:eh, I was going to wait until I could go over my predictions from this year to do this, but gently caress it, let's go. However, with rising percentages from the champion, a claim of retiring after this year and impressively numerous predictions & horrible results by Tampa Bae last year, who could possibly tell who, if anyone, gets the Venomous award for 2023??? Up next: The return of the PESSIMIST'S DREAM award! Several attempts were made this year but one stood out amongst them all. Forums poster Fluffy Bunnies did not score a full 0% as Hangman Page did in fact miss the rest of the year after being injured in a match with Jon Moxley. However, I think the rest of it sounded pretty loving bad and didn't come to pass... Fluffy Bunnies posted:AEW fucks up something so bad that we all have problems with supporting them for moral reasons That second line seems to ring some kind of bell but I'm sure nothing like that would ever happen We have a new special award to give out this year. Forums poster Rick has posted quite a thing and thus we are forced to ACKNOWLEDGE HIM Rick posted:AEW It's time for the main event: the awards for the best percentage correct and most impressively correct predictions... Last year's champion A Fancy Hat defended their championship bravely and scored a mighty 50% this year. However, we have a new champion a third year in a row. The best percentage correct and thus the A WINNER IS YOU award was acquired by... Maigius!!!! Maigius posted:There will be at least one match over 5 stars. correct, Meltzer rated a grand total of four matches with over 5 stars That's 8/12 predictions or 67% correct! Congratulations to Maigius for taking home this highly prestigious award! The second-best result at 56% was claimed by... wait it can't be! IT IS In an unprecedented move, forums posters Stall_19 and ChrisBTY have thrown a tantrum backstage! They are demanding that a tag team title be created or they'll walk out of the forums! Fine! Both sitting at 56% correct, Stall_19 and ChrisBTY are our inaugural PREDICTION BUDDIES title holders! ChrisBTY posted:~TV ratings will not fluctuate radically from the norm. incorrect, HHH taking the reins gave WWE a noticeable bump in the ratings. The trend is still down and both WWE and AEW have had some stinker ratings By my count that's 5/9 correct so 56% Stall_19 posted:2022 will end without Japan allowing full crowds of cheering fans. I would say this is correct as NJPW wasn't able to get cheering back until this year's Wrestle Kingdom By my count that's also 5/9 correct so 56%! And if you disagree with me on any of these, please don't, because I'll only find a way to make it all work anyway! And finally, previous A STAR MAN (most impressively correct) champion IceAgeComing vacated their title as they didn't take part this year, and because there were so god drat many predictions, I didn't bother to think about what would have been the most impressive predictions. Deal with it! a cyborg mug fucked around with this message at 00:07 on Jan 15, 2023 |
