the bad about Missouri having to play Army in the Armed Forces Bowl: it's on the same night as Braggin' Rights (the annual basketball game vs Illinois at Scottrade in STL), it's not a conference-affiliated bowl game, Mizzou finished higher than both Florida and SCar in the standings and yet they got better bowl games, injuries will happen because of their cut-blocking the good about Mizzou having to play Army in the Armed Forces Bowl: it'll be quick, MU has a huge amount of students/alumni in DFW, it's on the same night as Braggin' Rights and our basketball team is absolute dogshit, it's the only game on so we'll have actual eyeballs on us

There’s a few wrinkles in the Miami money thing that should explain things: —Apparently the whole “health system finances” thing was that until several years ago the U ran their hospital system at a loss, and now that it is turning a profit they can re-allocate funds elsewhere —Jorge Mas, a billionaire tech entrepreneur and Miami alum, is pumping money in because he and Mario Cristobal were classmates at Christopher Columbus HS (Catholic boys school in Miami that is very big, influential, and Cuban) and he wanted uno de lo nuestro in charge, and he’s not the only CCHS/Cane dual alum spending big, either —Blake James got fired partially because he screwed Miami out of money: their Adidas deal has a clause that states the Canes get the most money out of all Adidas schools, and when Louisville or aTm got a boost to their contract James totally forgot to bring that up

Remember when I said that Cristobal’s hire at Miami was going to unleash a flood of money from alumni of his HS to the Canes? Well, Marcus Lemonis (who went to Marquette for undergrad but is a CCHS alum, like Mario) just posted this https://twitter.com/marcuslemonis/status/1467244918179520520?s=21

Reports are that Dave Portnoy offered Hunter $2.5m, plus Barstool will be producing a TV show/web series about Hunter and Jackson State next year. You may not like it, but Barstool’s brand value is insanely high among HS athletes of all types, and this just proves it. Deion being an employee helps.

Seeing lots of takes about how big of a moment this is for HBCUs and memes about how everyone is only mad because he’s headed to Jackson State, and these people need to understand that: —this is a sui generis deal. No other HBCU, save maybe Howard, has the kind of clout and alumni to try and compete with a man employed by a fully-owned subsidiary of Penn National Gaming (NASDAQ: PENN), and said subsidiary is wanting to produce Content about his team —also, it’s Deion Sanders we’re talking about. We’re seeing a similar arms race among HBCUs in terms of coaching (Eddie George at TSU, Hue Jackson at Grambling) but will they establish partnerships like Prime Time has done, or can market themselves/their program like him? (Again, working with Dave Portnoy helps JSU immensely here.)
