looks like a nice place to be but, as far as being a good photo, it needs better light and a more interesting sky

I remember my friends using velvia film back in the day and raving about it so when I got my first fuji a few years back I immediately started using it and the digital simulation just makes everything purple like that edit

yeah velvia is way too saturated imo

where do i get pictures printed well? presumably not, like, shutterfly?

a lot of sites (walgreens, shutterfly) will often give you smaller prints for free/cost of shipping

i like nations photo lab for big prints though. less annoying upsell bs and the site actually works instead of being 500 data harvesters

i got a 16x24 print/frame today and learned that 16x24 is huge

also the print is just a huge glare everywhere in my house and i should have ordered a much cheaper canvas instead and hung it myself lol :rip:

shooting this wedding on saturday :ohdear:

wet cold and gray outside
inside will be lit with something

using only a 17-55 f/2.8-4 without a flash

plan to set it to 55mm/f4 ~200ss and let the ISO free

each change in # for shutter speed/aperture/iso is a "stop" is an EV

so yes, locking iso and aperture then changing shutter speed is a good way to bracket for hdr

1/10 +1 ev
1/20
1/40 -1 ev

correct me if I'm wrong :thanks:

the website i’ve arranged has inspired motivation. the general idea of pushing forward and charging for work. impressed myself with how many photos I’ve got as a portfolio, certainly doesn’t feel like it’s thin on the ground

i’ve made a google form for post shoot eval. gonna see one up as a contract

need to sort out prices, i’ve no idea what to charge

i already have a business card but it doesn’t have website on it but that’s ok

at rave thing in going to on sat i’m gonna get there close to sunset and ask people if i can take photo and give them business card and put them in one of those stories you can save on insta and yeah idk seems like a thing I can do

I hardly have motivation in life but right now I do

tbh I was half joking, if I really liked the shoot then it’s a joy going thru the images but if it was only ok then it’s a bit of a burden

i’m still trying to work out the best way to deal with the people I work with too, the last way I did it was
separate all the photo onto either useable or not useable and then send low res copies with the
proviso they aren’t to be shared, and for them to tell me which ones they liked. she liked 50 of them lol!

I understand if people were doing this professionally they’d charge like $100-150 for an hour with 8-12 photos or something, so 50 for free is a bargain lol. lucky for them I don’t value myself

(tbf there just aren’t that many people hanging out to pay money to me, if I didn’t do it for free I wouldn’t be doing it at all and I like doing it. that someone benefits from this is just a bonus for them)

[rant]
someone hit me up about doing a shoot and I kinda don’t really want to but I don’t know how to say no lol. she’s not a very good model and she won’t even wear any makeup. kinda gets my goat because she’s like what location do you have in mind (asking me) and i’m like idk you’re the one who asked to do a shoot[/rant]

if someone wants to pay you to take photos of them you should do it even if they don't wear make up or have a chosen location. c'mon dude
