This game is dope. I Also the blending of real time and pre-rendered graphics is still impressive. https://giant.gfycat.com/NegligibleQuickBackswimmer.mp4

Drawing 100 of a spell from an enemy honestly doesn't take much time either (esp. with the speed up options in the remaster or in an emulator). I think people just hated the idea that they would lose magic by casting it and have to keep finding new sources go top it off. Ultimately what I ended up doing is junctioning spells I wasn't planning on ever using to stats and affinities (because they buff you less as you use them up) and not casting a lot of magic overall. Spells are useful to hit certain enemy weaknesses but overall the easiest way to bust the difficulty curve open is to junction a powerful spell to ATK and let rip with normal attacks. My number one recommendation would be to use the magic lamp item before getting on the train to leave the starting Garden area (save first) and start learning the enc-half and enc-none abilities as soon as you can. IMO the most laid back way to play is w/ enc-half on and not worrying about levelling up too much, but when you're trying to do a puzzle or need to backtrack you're going to want that enc-none.

I'll probably do any future playthroughs I do in the remaster but it's definitely a mixed bag. The mix of updated and non-updated models makes it feel more like a fan mod, and the more detailed but expressionless faces make some scenes where the characters get right up in the camera (like the cockpit scene w/ Squall and Rinoa) unintentionally silly. Edit: even though it's basically the same situation the updated FFIX gets away with it better IMO because the updated models aren't as ambitious with how much more detailed they are.

NikkolasKing posted:Squall, called "Leon", is a semi-prominent character in KH, at least KH1 and 2, dunno about any of the others. He's voiced by David Boreanaz in KH1 IIRC. The actor swap-outs for Kingdom Hearts 2 were such downgrades, especially Squall and Aerith's. Not that the original performances were such hot poo poo (and they were probably crazy expensive for what they were given the stunt casting), but those characters have such flat, weird sounding line reads in 2.

SeeD is also basically an elite organization to dominate Triple Triad since like half of the best unique cards in the game are Balamb students. It would be funny if you ran into some nobody in Galbadia Garden holding an OC card of themselves with 9/9/A/A or something ridiculous.

The first time I played it I'm pretty sure I didn't know what level scaling was, got all of my magic from drawing and had a horrible rats nest of spells on every character, and basically just summoned GFs constantly in combat and it still basically worked out fine.
