Said expansion draft is happening because Charlotte is joining the league, finally put us back at an even number of teams at 28. Their inclusion will also bump Nashville over to the Western conference (which was supposed to happen in 2020 but then 2020 happened instead) for an even 14/14 split. San Jose, NYRB, Nashville, LA Galaxy and Orlando are exempt from the draft as Austin selected players from those teams last year. Any club that gets one of its players selected gets $50K in GAM and presumably will be exempt from next year's draft for St. Louis. whypick1 fucked around with this message at 01:33 on Dec 12, 2021 |

LAFC also grabbed Franco Escobar from Atlanta, which means they're actually doing something about their defense. It'd be cool if both LA teams missed the playoffs again though.

US Soccer might be jinxing it, but competition details for the 2022 US Open Cup have been announced. The MLS-relevant part of this is that 17 teams will enter in the round of 64 (April 19-21), while the remaining 8 teams enter in the round of 32 (May 10+11). Those 8 teams: New England NYCFC Colorado Seattle [the 4 CCL entrants] KC Portland Nashville Philly [2 next best teams from each conference not in that first group, which just happens to make it #1-#4 in both conferences]

Please not loving Amazon or Apple. Also, the 2nd Re-Entry Draft took place today. The one last week (where teams had to honor the original contract; in round 2 they re-negotiate) only saw Josh Bauer of Atlanta get selected by Nashville. whypick1 fucked around with this message at 21:18 on Dec 23, 2021 |

In case you weren't aware, things are rather in Portland right nowquote:These supporters groups run their activities through a nonprofit called the 107 Independent Supporters Trust, and their elected board members are the ones who meet front office executives each month -- but those meetings have stopped ever since the public allegations from Shim and Farrelly [regarding ex-Thorns coach Paul Riley being a total shithead creep]. The front office canceled meetings with the board for October, November, December and January. Coordination for game-day logistics has continued, but communications from front office executives have otherwise ceased, board members say. No need to build a bonfire, the FO is already on it. G-Hawk posted:7-10 million apparently per some other reporting. Leno would move on. From an Arsenal pov it makes sense but from a USMNT pov, Turner is glued to the bench the rest of the season and is presumably ramsdale's backup long term, only getting cup matches and such. I assume Turner would get a serious raise though and he wants to go to Europe. So if this goes through the USMNT keeper pool will presumably be: Steffen - Backup at Man City Turner - Backup at Arsenal Horvath - Backup at Nottingham Why yes, that seems totally ideal.
