From the December thread:LtCol J. Krusinski posted:Dude, this bullshit was my early and mid twenties. I worked with every tier of every level of JSOC. It’s all been written about elsewhere, but I know my poo poo when it comes to those idiots in SEAL Team 6. Or the regiment. It was a 3 star capture and kill command. All else was secondary or tertiary. Capture and Kill were the marching orders. I've heard and read that in Iraq and elsewhere the Rangers mostly pulled outer / perimiter security for Delta, DevGru, white SEAL teams, and white SF and Green Beret CIF teams, and were the go-to QRF for JSOC, but that they also conducted high profile missions all on their own without Delta backup because Delta passed along its knowledge to its little brother organization. Reading ans listening to podcasts about this poo poo is the closest I'll ever get to it, but it's fascinating and interesting to me.

I feel so bad for those people. poo poo like that is why I have an emergency car kit, a wool blanket, plus a bug out bag with Under Armor Cold Gear leggings and undershirt plus other poo poo. I also have water in a double walled bottle so it won't freeze, a box of granola bars, an MRE, and trail mix in the bag. I once had to spend 4 and a half hrs driving home from what would've usually been a 20 minute commute. Never again will I be unprepared for that poo poo. I also want to get an auxiliary fuel tank to beef up my preparedness. Expensive but worth it to me.

It's a cluster gently caress of massive proportions. The out of gas / abandoned cars are going to be the biggest impediments. It's going to take days to get those people out. That plus any out of gas 18 wheelers is going to be the biggest issue. I hope most of these people have food, medicine, and toiletries, or can at least walk to the next exit to seek shelter and sustenance. poo poo like this is why everyone needs to prep and have emergency kits, bug out bags, etc. It's not always about "poo poo hitting the fan," it's more about unexpected stuff like this. Eh, there's enough people in police / fire / EMS / dispatch / electrical workers / hospitals that hqve to show up to work regardless of weather that should have the bug out bags and emergency kits as a matter of course. More people need to start prepping though, outside of those jobs. We routinely see what happens - the government isn't going to save you. At best they're days away from helping you. Individuals and communities need to prepare for natural and man made disasters, because weather related poo poo like this is only going to get more frequent.

I forgot that K2 is in Uzbekistan instead of Kazakhstan and just had a second of worry for our guys til I googled it. From a purely academic viewpoint, this should be interesting to see how it unfolds, especially compared to the Arab Spring. Hopefully the Kazak govt doesn't open up on civilians with live ammunition. Hopefully it doesn't end up in a civil war.

Buddy of mine made a good point: "I love how Dems force through absolutely NO legislation like Republicans do and yet somehow our agenda is actively ruining America. How can that be if we never get anything moderate, much less anything even remotely socialist into law? Wouldn't there be a prerequisite of actually jamming through laws in order for us to be ruining America?"

When we were in Iraq, the IRGC gave Shiite militias those copper things which are EFPs or Explosively Formed Penetrators, which essentially negate almost any kind of armor protection that most vehicles have by turning the copper into a white hot plasma that penetrates the armor and kills the people inside. You put the explosive behind the EFP and boom, the copper does the rest. That's my non EOD dumbed down understanding of it. https://www.seattletimes.com/nation-world/soleimanis-legacy-the-gruesome-high-tech-ieds-that-haunted-u-s-troops-in-iraq/ quote:The weapons, compact but potent, are deployed against armored vehicles in a way similar to traditional IEDs but are much deadlier and more effective, Castner said. Lmao Just what the gently caress. First, I read that in some states you don't even need to have a degree in education nor a certification in teaching to become a teacher. That's hosed up to begin with. Then, not only that, now they're letting people even further removed from education, loving cops, to act as subs. Even under the most ideal of circumstances, those cops would be certified as instructors in adult education so they can train cops in various poo poo like defensive tactics, Taser, general topics, etc - not childhood or adolescent education. That's definitely not going to be the case, but even if all of them were certified instructors, it'd still be bad. Now you have completely unqualified assholes just literally being a warm body (who aren't wearing masks), who are 1) more likely to be right wing, 2) more likely to be anti vax, 3) more likely to be conspiracy theorist idiots, teaching our kids stuff. Bring in tradesmen to teach shop, bring in the IT guys to teach programming and typing and maths, bring in personal trainers or physical therapists to teach gym. Do anything but bring unqualified people to teach.

Man I hope Machin and Sinema get horrible debilitating cases of cancer. They're preventing people from getting the desperate help they need, they're cutting or stopping or slicing up every bill Biden wants to pass, and now they've killed a voting rights bill that would save people from unconstitutional illegal disenfranchisement from the GOP laws passed in many states so far, which will remove hundreds of thousands of people from the voter rolls. They are furthering the GOP's disenfranchisement efforts, and then speak of "unity" and a need to "come together." Those fucks can go to hell.

In a move that literally no one should be surprised with, the CIA is training "stay behind" cells in Ukraine (something actually useful and worthwhile, a switch for them!). https://twitter.com/JackMurphyRGR/status/1484232244797616131?t=TuUeU44eoci3jJLYxy7DqA&s=19 This has a lot of precedent. In the Cold War, we had arouns 100-200+ SF Green Beret guys under cover (long hair, civilian jobs, etc) stationed in Berlin trained in explosives, sabotage, covert action, covert communication, and German and Russian language who would wreak havoc on Russian supply lines if poo poo ever went hot.
