What you’re refering to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I’ve recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.

I've been doing Debian+Mate for the past two years at home and it's been great. And by great I mean terrible, but better than Windows and not that much worse than macos.

I love my mbp where I can sit with it on my lap without burns and I love the touchpad but goddamn the window management is so loving bad. especially with multiple monitors. how is linux developed literally for free by a bunch of nerds doing a better job than apple... a true mystery for 2022

because the whole "it's all free volunteer work" is just a myth. there is a large number of one-off contributors who submit trivial patches, but most of the major work is done by a core group of paid developers

I'll bet a lot of you are worried about switching to Linux on the desktop because you're like "hey, how will I be able to run my favorite Mac apps?" Well 2022 really is the year to switch. https://www.darlinghq.org/
