Yeah, we've reached this part in the cycle. Carmen will run for office, either as a republican or libertarian, depending on how bad the republicans are looking in the news in two weeks.

I feel extreme deja vu because I'm pretty sure "I'm gonna do it!" and then after a week of buildup "it" turns out to be "running for office" is a plotline they've actually done already, beat for beat.

She was his running mate back when he ran for president in 2008 so it's a personal betrayal.

Frankly I'm all for Prickly City going back to having them running for office every two years because anything is better than them endlessly moping about the desert. I strongly doubt though that Stantis has the willpower these days to make anything stick until November.

Prickly City, like time, is a flat circle.

There are no beginnings or endings with the wheel. It is a story arc yet to come and a story arc long passed.

Again a very likpatous story

I'm assuming that at some point Xi commented on the US calling out China's human rights violations, and he likely said something along the lines of "The US has no room to call us out on these alleged actions when they're not even a proper democracy due to disenfranchising their own citizens."

The US (and I think a few others) are staging a "diplomatic boycott" of the Winter Olympics, which are held in China, citing human rights abuses. A diplomatic boycott basically means the athletes can go, but the various government officials who show up for the party will not attend. China has taken the insult, and are saying it violates the spirit of the Olympics to drag politics into things (fair point, gently caress the Olympics), the US are acting like a man "lifting a stone to crush his own foot", and will suffer unspecified consequences somewhere down the line.
However, I have not been able to find any Chinese government official firing back specific criticisms of the US and voter suppression. I believe Branco has deliberately jumbled up his enemies. Xi Jinping is speaking w/ the voice of the Democratic party who are trying to protect voting rights, and by implication the democrats are now defending the worst abuses of the Chinese government.

Oh I'm just assuming because I've read this poo poo long enough that there's kind of a pattern.

Stantis bitches about how neither party represents him, Stantis fantasizes about starting his own party of pure and good values that all Americans can agree on, Stantis abandons the plot line after a few days of "wow gee finally a sensible party for the silent majority" because obviously how can you comment on current political events in the context of a fantasy plot with an imaginary third party that beats them both
