I always thought the (non-theological) reason Mary had to be a virgin was the Catholic Church is a political organization and saying non one can claim to be related to Jesus helps maintain the hierarchy.

The shows where cops are goofy, slightly incompetent but gosh darn it, they’re good people and they can pull together against overwhelming odds and make it so everyone is just a little bit safer (even if they break the rules now and then) is in fact fairly decent propaganda

Why aren’t these old farts making more X Files references. Like Mulder is looking at Trump and is saying something like “I want to believe” or “this case is too far out for me” or “ “Look Scully little orange men”
