As someone who did a Poland tour(and a history buff with a graduate degree in it) I LOVED Poland. Actually, I pretty much love all of Eastern Europe. Everyone is so laid back about stuff. You can absolutely explore thousand year old cathedrals and just walk around old battlefields. And everyone seems to have a deep knowledge of their region's history. It's just great.

I'll never forget on one of my deployments we got an IRR captain for a very specialized office job. You have never met a more angry person in your life. For an entire year he did the bare minimum and just deuced out of everything else. Never even made friends. Just went from his chu to the office, then back to the chu.
