Gazillion Ear is one of my favorites that hasn't been mentioned yet. I like it better with the album intro with Prince Paul doing a cheesy villain voice and Kelvin Mercer grunting one line: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CDBLjMxHaPw the song itself: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DUZ7-C0wPF4

hot cocoa on the couch posted:nice fleshed out op, good content Thank you, DOOM is very important to me. I'm old enough to have seen a few of my favorite artists die, but his death hit me harder than anyone else. I've listened to his stuff probably every week since I found him in the summer of 2001. Good times, bad times, and the summer I really discovered how good weed is was coincidentally the summer I discovered Madvillainy. This was the first track I ever heard, and wasn't even big into hip hop then. But something about his delivery and rhymes were instantly deep into my brain. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=er8eJHQ8W6Q

i love the track "bistro" off of madvillainy so much... it feels like a second intro to the album and the long drawn out description of the "bistro" always cracks me up ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the debut grand opening of madvillain bistro, bed and breakfast, bar and grill, cafe, lounge on the water

Like someone has mentioned on the previous page, I was actually introduced via November has Come. I was hanging around lots of MP3 sharing forums at the time (atease represent!) and Demon Days had leaked like 4-5 months early (infamous because Kids with Guns was cut off after like a minute). I remember a lot of people being excited for his feature, and I was excited because I had been slowly getting into hip hop over those last few years. And honestly, at first I just did not get it. His flow and the way he sounds/mixed just did not click with me at first. It wasn't until I heard the song Gas Drawls a few years later by chance that it all of the sudden clicked. After that I feel down the rabbit hole of Madvillany/KG/VV and became obsessed. Madvilliany and MM Food are probably two of my fav hip hop albums next to The Unseen by Quas. It's not the best of the collar albums, but I do have a big soft spot for JJ DOOM. JJ is a dude who never quite got his dues imo, I was hoping this album would have pushed him into the spotlight a little more, but never did https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jTCI_bqMi_w Shape of Broad Minds (JJ's "group" which was just all his personas) Ft DOOM https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eS2O5pMCOa0

I love his Special Herbs series of beats/instrumentals. Dude was so talented in a lot of ways and so loving unique. I’ve never heard anyone else making things that sound like this. These have been a favorite of mine for chilling out and just great background music for setting a vibe. A couple of favorites (not totally sure about the titles since they’re all messed up on my version: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5tMLaP81tNQ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CEAesykIKgk

Abstract Orchestra are amazing! They're local to me and I've seen them play both their Doom and Dilla sets a bunch of times- They're an incredible live act and always bring out a good crowd. The mutual admiration both the audience and performers have for the artists in question is always readily apparant at their shows and there's always a special atmosphere there where you can tell that everyone in the room is having a great time. Their albums are on Spotify and make a great accompaniment to the special herbs series. https://youtu.be/SB8d_zJ4HXE Last time I saw them was in November and they'd added a whole bunch of new DOOM songs to their repertoire, including some pretty deep cuts. Alongside half of Madvillainy they also did Benzi Box, Ballskin, Absolutely, Saliva, Red & Gold, Vomitspit, VV and a few more I can't remember off the top of my head before finishing off with a massive jam on Fig Leaf Bi-Carbonate, it was amazing! They're playing another Dilla show at the end of February and I'm pretty excited to see what else they're going to bring to the table.

What do you think the chances are that any of his unreleased projects will ever see the light of day? Off the top of my head there's Doomstarks, Madvillainy sequel, a 'KMD' album plus whatever remains of the rest of the missing notebook rhymes. While I think Starks might leak out someday I'm increasingly unsure that MV will ever get released. Madlib has absolutely no issue with leaving things on the shelf and has always said that he hated the way that Dillas demos and unfinished beats were released posthumously without his consent. I just can't see him selling out his old friend like that unless he was 100% sure that this was the product that the two of them wanted to release, which given that it's been sat in a vault for all these years to begin with probably means that it was never going to be finished.
