Wait, when you said you were not ready for hintless Strands did you mean "Strands without earning hints"? Because finding non-theme words and earning hints is not a demerit or anything. Only using hints make your epeen shrink. And the trap I was complaining about was a theme word which disguised itself to look like the spangram because finding the spangram as the first word earns you bragging rights.
