Time to post some rap from videogames or somehow related to games. Games and rap are natural allies, both are insanely awesome and became popular with kids around the same time. I'll kick it off

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vi8wcm6miHg De La Soul's "I Gotta Believe!" written for Parappa the Rapper 2, a really catchy song. My wife has an alarm clock in the shape of Parappa that goes like "you gotta say WHAT?!?" and shouts "I GOTTA BELIEVE!" when you slam the alarm off button, it's in storage somewhere but posting this is reminding me to dig it up and turn it into my main alarm clock

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GR37_gK0F3w Aisle 10 by "Scapegoat Wax", I dunno much about this song, it's kinda goofy but I like it anyway and has a lot of nostalgia to me just because it reminds me of the cool game JSRF

You got to have protoculture, it's a rap all about gaming in the 90s.

Dan Bull is actually a damned good lyricist and has great flow but the beats for his songs are generally extremely bad

Aaaaaahhh I'm so glad someone made this thread :allears:

Fight Night 2004 helped shape my taste in hip hop almost as much as Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1-3 shaped my taste in pop punk.

Here's a couple of my favorites

Say what you will about Cyberpunk but the soundtrack had some gems.

This one was my personal favorite track on Saint's Row 2, one of my favorite games ever. Was apparently before Wale was popular - I remember hearing people talking about him later and was like 'wait the dude from the SR2 soundtrack?'

How has nobody mentioned Madworld, where a Japanese games studio did their best to write American-style hip-hop and produced 20 original tracks for a loving Wii exclusive: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MadWorld#Soundtrack

i linked a track from Anarchy Reigns, which bought back a bunch of the rappers from madworld, a few posts up. that kinda sorta counts! platinum didn't do a bad job for assembling a bunch of native-english rappers in osaka, which probably wasn't the easiest job...

as for licensed music, saints row the third has a mission where you parachute from a helicopter into a rooftop party and mow down all the rival gang members there soundtracked entirely by kanye's Power. not the most obscure track, but it works far, far better than it should

Used disc-only copies of that game go for $100, no joke. It was recently updated to run on the Xbox Series X!
