![]() Wait no ![]() Roddy Ricch had a Covid exposure so he was replaced Wednesday with Bleachers. I grabbed the original Monday hype promo before they took it down. I also capped the updated hype promo, which was air-only. I compiled them here for your consumption https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0dDtiVQtLgk And here are two Thursday promos https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yzHdU8a-uDQ And as usual there was an air-only Thursday promo as well, and as usual I capped it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DQNeCPt9GN8 Tonight's show was looking shaky for a bit, what with the whole... y'know. And the next two episodes for this block of shows have yet to be announced. After which will be the Olympics for most of February, and then the show returns for one ep at the end of February and two in March. Ariana DeBose will be good. Bleachers? Here's what they'll be playing tonight https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pdNf8cF-vJw https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E4uA85iWsIg I can't embed this one, it's a live performance of Chinatown. https://youtu.be/4POQtHyD2Yg Will Bruce be there? Probably not. But that would be neat, wouldn't it? I don't know though. We'll have to wait and see What I can say is, check out this cold open from Colbert on Thursday. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GbkuKaBYIDU And tonight's Vintage is from nearly exactly ten years ago: Daniel Radcliffe with Lana del Rey, January 14 2012. See you next week! ![]()

If they do the obvious MacGruber sketch it’ll dampen my disappointment over the lack of Ted Lasso sketch.

One of those originated on SNL though.

Of course, but they’re no strangers to doing a show/movie the host is involved in. I’m sure there was one drawn up in the writing room and just wasn’t deemed good enough for air. Kinda just wanted to see cast impressions tbh.

Pretty funny episode overall, Arianna DuBose was actually fantastic, very comfortable on stage and well suited to SNL acting. Band felt like I was in a crappy bar listening to generic 2010s local band, maybe if there were some 2 dollar wells I woulda enjoyed it. The Family Matters sketch got a laugh out of me for kenan's Family loving Matters line, but the rest of it was kind of brought down by them telegraphing it too much. Stop starting skits by explaining the premise and spoiling the joke, especially when you're doing it on something topical like a recent trailer drop.

They had to start it off that way because the skit was actually an ad to get people to subscribe to Peacock and watch Bel-air...

oof that makes explains way too much to not be the case. guess I'll just be glad they don't air Office clips as skits

I apologize because I was only half paying attention but why would a family matters spoof get people to watch Bel-air?

Like, you guys know Longhorn probably paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to have that 12:55 sketch, right?

Toxic Fart Syndrome posted:Like, you guys know Longhorn probably paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to have that 12:55 sketch, right? I know you're having a laugh, but since S42, there has been a sponsored sketch in most episodes, which is a tradeoff; the show has an extra 3.5 minutes of content, but most of that is a sponsored sketch. While the total running time has changed over the decades, this is the difference between a S41 and a S42 episode. S41: 65:30 show, 27:00 commercials S42: 69:00 (nice) show, 23:30 commercials So, no, that Longhorn bit was likely not the paid spot, especially since the 12:55 bit is usually up in the air until late in the live show. The Peacock one, however, was. And hey, speaking of things being cut for time, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HFynWiONsdo

The Longhorn sketch was most definitely a paid sponsorship. If there is any doubt really, Longhorn and Olive Garden have the same parent company. Which Olive Garden has also been on SNL this season. I'd also even bet that working in Spiderman into the cold open was a paid sponsorship...

Neat, so Cheddars is next. I actually like the sponsored bits because the writers seem to take personal offense and make the skits as offensive as possible which usually creates some kind of hilarity.

Which Olive Garden has also been on SNL this season. People I've talked to indicate it wasn't. The show has one a week, and it's usually a pre-tape. Again, the last half of the show—especially the final act—is typically still in a state of flux until after Midnight. After Bleachers' second song were four bits in the rundown: Sappho, All on Me, Kitchen Staff, and Covid Porn. Two of those made it in, and another was posted online. A sponsored bit isn't ever going to be on the chopping block (not to say that they've never came on later.) And the cold open was just a joke on Spiderman being a monster hit Oh and on the topic of schedules, https://twitter.com/thatweekinsnl/status/1483546505072021505?s=21

New York's hottest new club is :foghorn:, it's got everything; dysentery, tetnus, slowly sinking gogo cages and a seagull that looks like Dan Cortese. You can even go to the top deck to get a Staten Island Ocean Spray.
