There is an uncomfortable truth in music, and that is that Act I of Vaxis was Coheed and Cambria's best album in over a decade. Now comes Act II, which actually introduces the character of Vaxis into the story in a Tristam Shandy-esque device. Yes, Claudio Sanchez and co. decided to forgo making an album of sequels to songs that include "Jessie's Girl" and instead focused on creating the second part of a planned five-part saga to mirror their first five albums - only this time, released in linear order.

But enough about the Amory Wars. Let's rock.

To be released on May 27th, including a deluxe 'you don't need all this crap' edition.

Act 1 ruled, act 2 I still liked but a bit less so. Very excited for this, love Coheed :getin:

Meanwhile, I didn't care for either Vaxis albums. I was going to get #3 just to finish the trilogy, but someone mentioned on SA that it's a 5 part series? So that really dampened my hope.

I found one of their "The Last Supper - Live At Hammerstein Ballroom" DVD at a thrift store the other week, so at least I'll have new-old music at least. :v:

I love you all
Vaxis III has taken a couple of listens to click with me, but I've been loving the hell out of it and Vaxis II recently. Great albums to have in vinyl so you're more likely to listen to whole chunks at a time.

Seeing as how Wikipedia now spoils the musical callbacks in Act III, I can freely speak my mind with regards to :speculate: on nerd poo poo.

Act III obviously takes place concurrently with The Afterman: Ascension. Would it be too obvious for Act IV to do the same with Descension? I think it's possible that album will reveal the fate of Sirius Amory, left partially unresolved since the Afterman duology. Of course, it all depends on who Vaxis is in the grand scheme of the Amory Wars. Does he grow up to be a Mage? Is he on the KBI's side, or Wilhelm Ryan's side? DOES HE TURN OUT TO BE WILHELM RYAN because Claudio Sanchez really likes Star Wars?

Claudio Sanchez has written a bunch of supplemental material further explaining things, including a comic book range that has so far covered the band's first four released albums. It wasn't until the Father of Make Believe that we got a sense of where the Vaxis pentology takes place relative to the Amory Wars, thanks to several musical callbacks in the album to the Afterman duology:
