Hardy Krüger (1928 - 2022) He was a great actor who you might recognize from such movies as Barry Lyndon, A Bridge Too Far, Hatari!, and The Flight of the Phoenix. Not only was he an actor but he was also a director, a nazi, and an author, having written 16 books! He was 93 years old. What are some of your favorite movies of his? I enjoyed him in the Flight of the Phoenix.

"In March 1945, Krüger was assigned to the 38th SS Division Nibelungen and was drawn into heavy combat.[5] The 16-year-old Krüger was ordered to shoot at an American squad.[6] When he refused, he was sentenced to death for cowardice, but another SS officer countermanded the order.[7] Krüger described this experience as his break with Nazism. He afterwards served as a messenger for the SS, but later escaped and hid out in Tyrol until the end of the war.[8] He was a member of the Amadeu Antonio Foundation and frequently spoke publicly against extremism and for democracy, citing his own experiences.[9]". that's a fair amount to have happen at 16.
