 No recording, but I saw a community theatre version of The Hunchback of Notre Dame that didn't have bells chiming. Quazimodo is pulling on ropes to ... silence. I know the budget is nothing, but at the very least they could have cued up a gonging sound on YouTube and stuck a microphone against a phone.
