I think the article where the Jackie Robinson quote comes from is worth a read: https://www.si.com/mlb/2019/04/30/tim-anderson-white-sox-speaks-out basically it's in the context of baseball's respectability politics being drawn along racial lines, and how few black baseball players there are in the game after all this time. perhaps a clumsy way of grappling with Robinson's legacy, but Josh Donaldson is pretty much the last person in the world who should mouth off about it

seems like a pretty embarrassing rebuild, with their only reliable homegrown guys being nola and hoskins, with no big time prospects on the horizon. I guess buying DHs in the offseason wasn't going to fix that (even though I really wanted it to work). 4th highest payroll in baseball!
