I was curious so I went to look up what the tiebreakers look like for that 8th seed battle. Going into everyone’s last pair of games the Mystics, Sky and Dream all have 13 wins thanks to the Dream’s overtime win today. Atlanta plays Chicago on Tuesday, which means one of them will be guaranteed to have 14 wins and an inside track to the playoffs. if Washington wins one of their two remaining against the Liberty or Fever (both in DC), they win tiebreakers against Atlanta and Chicago, so regardless of who wins on Tuesday the Mystics would still overtake them. Atlanta: vs Chicago Tuesday At New York Thursday 1-2 against Chicago 2-2 against Washington 5-13 in conference Chicago: At Atlanta Tuesday At Connecticut Thursday 2-1 against Atlanta 1-3 against Washington 5-13 in conference Washington: Vs New York Tuesday Vs Indiana Thursday 2-2 against Atlanta 3-1 against Chicago 6-12 in conference Tiebreakers in order: 1. Head to Head 2. Conference winning percentage The funniest option is Atlanta winning Tuesday then losing to the Liberty, Washington dropping both and Chicago upsetting the Sun forcing the rarely seen third tiebreaker, wins against all teams with a .500 or better record, which is still very much in flux because the Mercury could win two and get back to .500 which would possibly tip the 8th seed from the Sky to the Dream Chicago: 5-18 (5-21 w/Mercury) Atlanta: 4-18 (5-21 w/Mercury) If this happens, the next tiebreaker is h2h point differential. Chicago won its two games by 17 points total, and Atlanta won its one game by 9, meaning that if Atlanta wins by 8, it would be even, triggering the fifth and final tiebreaker: a coin flip.
