I have never seen a programming language crash into complete and utter irrelevance as swiftly as Perl. It really is quite amazing, especially considering its role in the early days of the web. Imagine throwing away that sort of first mover advantage.

Whoever owns the empire state building decided that what would be really awesome for everybody's mental health would be to make the entire building flash bright red back when things were really kicking off so yeah looking out over that particular illumination of a deserted cityscape was a fun time

most ps1 style demakes have perspective-correct texturing but w/e it looks prettier that way pretty crazy to think back to the days when the first 3d graphics accelerators came out and people absolutely lost their poo poo over bilinear filtering and now nearest-neighbor is back in style. i played amid evil a while back and didn't find it all that fun but it certainly did look pretty

there are a few nice-looking PS1 games that have stood the test of time but for the most part console 3d games needed a few more years in the oven at least until the turn of the century. the entire N64 catalog looked like absolute poo poo. Starfox for the SNES looks better than anything on the N64 that and control schemes were really rough until dual thumbsticks became universal as well.
