specifically that is for the 10% of meetings i view as a legitimately useful activity. when in such a meeting try to actually foster some conversation.

having "hybrid" meetings is a fool's errand anyway

even if you have the fancy polycom/cisco kit there will be side conversations and all sorts of other remarks going on
and sharing a screen from a laptop in the room is usually fraught

just do it with everyone joining the VC

yeah. just doing a zoom has its advantages, just being in a room together has its advantages, but mixing them has only downsides.

we still do them now and then, but almost invariably it is tacitly understood that the zoom attendants are second-class as far as conversation goes (and pretty much no one minds, because the interaction is not any more pleasant for the person on zoom).

If you piss microsoft off by not restarting your PC for a few days, there's a full-screen modal you get that has like three options on it, and I'm pretty sure that whichever one you pick then it will restart your PC without permission.

never seen this, i habitually delay update reminders for weeks via settings when it asks about hours. some policy on a work machine maybe?

first step towards fully replacing the entire meeting by abstract glyphs randomly showing up on screen at random points of the day. which sounds pretty good.

yeah I can’t use my AirPods on zoom calls. something inevitably makes it drop connection, screen sharing basically guarantees it, or the audio quality will be randomly bad. my cheapo sony wired earbuds are way more reliable. they’re pink

a nice color to some extent makes up for their unfortunate tendency of causing meetings to proceed unimpeded.
