 Fashion operates on like a 20 year cycle and also the weird poo poo on the runway is just poo poo they do for attention, like the auto manufacturers do with concept cars. If it actually gets enough attention, they make a watered down version of it to sell and if that does well enough, it gets filtered down to cheaper versions and knockoffs until it's passe and then the cycle continues. It's not that difficult to understand the basic concept.
