I didn't watch a movie last night but I watched some Scavenger's Reign which is inventive but a little flat so far. I plan on watching the 1981 Gundam film trilogy soon and Halloween 5 and then Patlabor movies.

District 9. Racism is bad, in South Africa, turns out. I learned from a friend that they shot the film in an actual slum in Johannesburg, which diluted the message somewhat. Also diluting it is the fact that all Nigerians are portrayed as violent backward criminals who believe in magic.

Uhh, what. My brain hurts. I thought this was gonna be a SAW-like movie given the setup, but now I think I just watched a bunch of Joe Rogan podcast bros work through their self-confidence-based trauma in between weird shots of generic bad guys and too many CGI displays. There was a countdown timer of an hour in the movie and man I felt every minute of that.

What a weird movie. I feel like it was a bad dream. It got 7/10 and I don't understand it, it could have been a 45 minute short film...
