Since it’s been talked about so much in this thread, I watched Synecdoche, NY tonight. I’d purposefully never looked up anything about the film or watched any trailers. That’s… uhhh… a helluva film, eh?

Made my friends watch it for my 21st, sight unseen (me incl.) It ruled. [standing waist deep in swirling smoke] "I really love the house. I'm just a little concerned. About the fire."

My favourite movie ever. My friend just yesterday came back from LA and brought me a For Your Consideration DVD screener of it he found for like a dollar in a thrift shop, and I will treasure it forever!

What is that shot? It looks like a recreating of a childhood memory or something about becoming a pilot. I wonder if that's going to be the whole season, maybe with multiple subjects in the same experiment.

The fake airport set was the one that got me.

The thing I always think about Nathan Fielder trailers is: "if this is what they're showing in the trailer..."

I wasn't sure how he could top the sheer primal horror of the baby swapping in season 1, but he did it!

While all of the episodes of The Curse have a little bit of vicarious cringe, I never found it unbearable like some people here seem to have. That being said, the finale literally had my stomach in knots in a way no show ever has.

With the upcoming srason 2 of The Rehearsal, I managed to gather enough strength to finish The Curse. That huh, that sure is an ending. Reminds me a bit of how at some point in history people started experiencing "glass delusions" where they thought they were made of glass or porcelain or some similar material, and they would break if they fell down. I think even some inbred king or another suffered from it? All in all, I didn't really enjoy it. Which I guess is the point? It's awkward but in a bad way compared to Nathan's other shows were you are in on the joke. The Curse feels like it's daring you to laugh, like you are the butt of the joke. I think if maybe the surrealism had flowed in earlier (there are hints here and there), or if it had been shorter instead of 10 episodes, I would have enjoyed it more. Looking forward to the new season. The Rehearsal season 1 is just crazy, the way the show keeps folding reality and irreality and surreality into each other like layers (like in a croissant if I may be smug about it) is just so great. With it and Nathan For You I think you can sometimes tell things that were made in post/editing, or that were kind of scripted, or where they rolled the dice enough times until they got the results they wanted. But the moments where they just seem to roll with whatever actually happened are also great.
