I'm playing both agent and jedi knight alts right now, because 1) I wanted to do a dark side story on the agent and it's ruthless and awesome, and 2) I wanted to bring a force user through KOTFE/KOTET and read that the JK was the best one to do that with as the story was basically written for them. My trooper/vanguard is still my favourite character all around though, and I guess my main.

i'm very glad they've made it possible to do any of the force/tech user specs on any character. when i play my smuggler is very satisfying to play with the sniper abilities. I know that there is a mirror'd spec for smuggler but it feels much more satisfying to do it with a big gun

There was a period that I think got patched out where you technically could play commando with a blaster rifle, you just did something like 25% less damage (and maybe there were some abilities you couldn't use, I can't remember, but none that you really needed to beat the solo content). Obviously a rude thing to do if you're trying to dps group stuff but solo content was easy enough to do if you had too much free time and valued aesthetics over performance

There are certain abilities that you can't use with a rifle (Hail of Bolts, Charged Bolts and uhhh the pub version of Rocket Out), and yeah you do less damage, but that's fine for story content if you want to RP. Healing Commandos can use a rifle and barely notice, Gunnery just doesn't have Hail of Bolts as an AOE option, and Assault Specialist is crippled because they rely on Charged Bolts for their rotation.

Yeah in 6.x I would frequently commando heal with a blaster rifle because I was too lazy to move augs every time someone wanted to do a pubsie raid. It didn't really impair them at all.

I could've sworn there was a period where you could use hail of bolts with a blaster rifle, because I definitely played commando that way and remembered thinking that the animation looked cooler than with an assault cannon. That's the channeled rapid fire ability, right? Maybe I'm just getting the ability names mixed up.grah posted:Yeah in 6.x I would frequently commando heal with a blaster rifle because I was too lazy to move augs every time someone wanted to do a pubsie raid. For anyone requiring any information about any possible SWTOR-related subject at all, I feel I would be very much remiss if I did not mention Swtorista's updated Guide of Guides (I also added it to the OP). Surely one of the 2800+ guides listed there should contain the answer to your question?

Soooooooo if you haven't spent much/any time on PvP recently but are desperate for those PvP Season rewards, you can now unlock the first 15 levels (out of 25 total) for credits. Each level you unlock with credits increases the cost of the next, so it helps if you've already got a few levels - although on the other hand maybe you want to just spend it all on getting to level 15 and save actual effort for the rest, since it's not possible to use credits for any of the subsequent levels and the season ends in just under a month? Getting from 0 to 15 will supposedly set you back a little less than 1 billion credits, which isn't that bad by today's standards. As always, Swtorista's got more details for you.

Run a couple Ops in pick up groups on the fleet (most often is Dread Palace and Dread Fortress, run together, takes about an hour). That will get you enough tech fragments to buy a couple OEM-13 or RPM-13 mats from the spoils of war vendor, which sell for 150-200 million credits. There's no more weeklong lockouts so you can run that every day.

I'm at ~75 billion in my Legacy and another ~20 billion spread around characters with nothing really to spend it on. I'm surprised they took Amplifiers out of the game, a consequence of simplifying I suppose, cause they were a fabulous credit sink.

They tripled the price of unlocking Galactic Seasons with credits, which is a smart move and a good credit sink. Same with unlocking PvP seasons, whales with no desire to PvP can unlock 15 of the 25 levels. Ruhnuk and Manaan have some really nice decorations for credits, and that helps too. So it seems they know they have to get some credit sinks in the game, but man they really need to find something that people want to spend billions at a time on. The thing that the inflation warriors on Reddit and the forums have a hard time grasping is that nothing has changed in years for credits coming into the economy, the reason everything is expensive now is because they dumped the referral program so people who were getting thousands of cartel coins a month no longer have the CC to buy items on the CM and flip them. Supply and demand, lower supply and prices go up.

I haven't been doing ops yet because I'm not level 80 yet but I have been doing a ton of flashpoints and I have about 520 million credits I've gotten in like a week. Currently running through a dark side councilor story and I don't think I've killed as many jedi in any other story.

Dang 7.2.1 is coming to PTS and for just an incremental update it's going places:quote:7.2.1 will mark the beginning of the next Galactic Season - A Passage of Peace. Like previous Seasons, this one will come with a host of new rewards players can earn and will feature a brand new companion, Amity, for players to learn and traverse the galaxy with. Stay tuned for more details on this season and a sneak peek at its rewards! quote:Players can then look forward to Season 2 starting with the launch of 7.2.1 where they can earn all new rewards! Similar to Galactic Seasons, stay tuned in the coming weeks as we begin to reveal what these new rewards will be. quote:As many longtime players will likely recognize, the credit economy in SWTOR has had some pretty substantial inflation over the years. This makes it challenging for players to engage in our trade economy, especially new players. One of our goals this year is to begin correcting some of our economic inflation. We have a couple of initiatives which will begin in 7.2.1 and expect more changes in future releases throughout the year. edit: whoops it's actually already online so go get your O.V. already! The line "Reintroduce credit sinks as some were removed in the past" better be doing a lot of heavy lifting when it comes to inflation because the rest of those changes are only going to put the screws to new/poor players. If you're a multi-billionaire, the rest of the changes mentioned are not going to matter to you at all.

They need to make some super expensive things that appeal to the people like me. Quick travel costs won't make a dent in the 30 billion I'm sitting on. Things I've suggested in the past - Another tier or two of Rocket Boost lowering the cooldown even more, insanely expensive. - Ability to unlock items in collections for an absurd amount of credits, maybe for a limited time. - Unique titles (I thought of "Bad With Credits" for 15 billion). - More toys like the clicky on Dantooine that makes you glow gold that costs 150 million - Ability to purchase additional copies of decorations for absurd amounts of credits - Ability to unlock mounts that you earned on one character (IE, I got Wings of the Architect on my Operative, for 2 billion I can unlock it on my Assassin) Things like this would remove massive amounts of credits quickly without affecting the new player experience.
