RC and Moon Pie posted:Donruss was the absolute worst about patterns in its packs. Normally, you'd expect with 36 packs and 12 or whatever it was per pack, you'll get roughly 1/3 of that set out of a single box. I now have several Rance Mullineks but it's cool because his facial hair is outstanding I did get two of the Bo Jackson Diamond King #1 in mint condition

Lester Shy posted:IIRC there's a really early debut deadline, and if you make your first appearance after that, your RCs get held over to the next year. Which is why none of Rutschman's 2022 cards have the rookie logo, even though he appeared in 113 games last year. Yeah this is one reason why the brands used to do the series 1/series 2 thing

Is there a decently-priced line anymore that has some cool inserts but is also, I emphasize, not too expensive? I like the inserts because that's part of the fun of breaking, for me, but then again I haven't broken in thirty years. edit: used to be the regular lines would still have inserts that weren't super rare, so you could count on getting a few in each hobby box

I think this might help me get back into knowing all the players in the league, used to be a time when I did, but I lost track of MLB around 2008 until Shohei brought me back.

Topps Heritage looks really cool. drat them for knowing what I want in a card.

Bank posted:That's a lot of cards! I was heavy on collecting Ohtani but my brain reminded me that they are probably going to be worthless in 10 years so I stopped at around 80 cards in toploaders and maybe another 10 slabbed. if you have any Ohtani extras, or just want to offload some, I would be a good customer at a fair price.

Okay, I just completed a huge review & pull of rookie cards from all my old 1980s, 1990s, 2000s, and 2010s sets, along with the ones I had already stashed at the Old Goon Home. I have a massive number of somewhat-valuable cards in top-loaders. Griffey, Bonds, Maddux rookies, sort of thing -- if you can name a star from that era, I have several RCs probably. (A lot of McGwire and Sosa but nobody seems to care...?) Should I just feed them into COMC a little bit at a time, and see what happens? I don't really have any emotional attachment to these, and if I can get a bit of value then it might be fun. Couple of auto-ed baseballs (Griffey and Nolan Ryan) but I have no idea how to begin selling those for a fair price. edit: I've never used COMC and I'm just now getting started mdemone fucked around with this message at 21:32 on Aug 18, 2024 |

ScooterMcTiny posted:That’s a cool Griffey set. Are all your cards baseball? Or other sports too? I have a bunch of Kevin Garnett rookie cards but most of the basketball is trash. There's a cool Rodman Topps Finest, maybe a few Jordans of varying kinds. It's amazing how much bullshit you pull from wax packs and keep forever. I probably have 100k baseball cards of absolutely zero value, spanning the last five decades. I did find a USA Basketball complete set from the 1992 Dream Team, Skybox production mdemone fucked around with this message at 22:04 on Aug 18, 2024 |

Here's a 1981 Topps Rickey. The top-loader is scuffed up but the card is in good shape. Bottom right corner maybe a bit touched. ![]() I have a ton of Griffeys that I'm probably going to submit to COMC. Will post when they're available.

pseudodragon posted:Did the Apprentice ever do a baseball related task with the Yanks/Mets? If any that's probably the era where he'd be mainstream enough that he'd be worth adding as a chase card and not toxic enough to drive off a huge portion of the customer base. I don't remember them doing anything like that -- very likely that the TV rights holder for those MLB teams would not have wanted them to appear on NBC.

Bank posted:So uh, I think I want to sell some of my Ohtani cards now. Is there a good place to sell without getting screwed on fees or scammed? I'm down to do the legwork on my end (listing, packing, shipping). I'm thinking about posting them up on Blowout forums but really want to make sure I don't get screwed by some unscrupulous buyer. I would be happy to buy some of them. Do you have a list? Edit: vvvv that works out because I am mostly into Angels-era cards 🥴 mdemone fucked around with this message at 14:35 on Sep 20, 2024 |

Should I do the direct-to-grading option for submitting about 25 cards to COMC, or should I have them graded first by PSA and then submit the ones to COMC that I want to sell? I'm only looking to keep five of them for my private collection so I don't know which option makes more sense, or if it doesn't matter.
