Whoa, I didn't know there was a baseball card thread. Awesome! I just got back into collecting cards earlier this year after not having touched them since childhood (junk wax era). When I got started, I was ripping packs but quickly learned that was not how I wanted to roll. I decided to collect cards of only one player: Bo Bichette. Why Bo? I dunno. I'm a lifelong Jays fan and he's my fave on the current roster. It helps that he looks cool and plays busy IF positions, so there's lots of action shots for card photos. My city has only 4 local card shows a year. Today was one of em. https://imgur.com/a/BnpMWPL Had been wanting that Canadian Opening Day RC for a while. The 5x7" is /10 (bottom left stamp). I love that card, and have the regular size already. The others are just some new-to-the-collection Bo. The JDS UFC limited relic auto was on the table at $30, but I got it for $10. I am up to 735 unique Bo Bichette cards in my PC. That feels like a lot, but it's only 10% of his total cards released so far. I don't really understand why I am amassing these, but it sure is fun! I guess it's the hunt giving me something to do, the dopamine hit I get from impulsively buying them, and my love of spreadsheets.

Welp, I was so close to my goal that I bought up a few more. I have finally collected over 1000 Bo Bichette cards! 1003, to be exact. Turns out I have over 500 duplicates as well. That's a lot of Bo. The result is that my cards in my BCW Card Boxes are now in the order you see in the spreadsheet above.

It took many hours, but I labeled and sorted all of my Bo cards, including duplicates. Ugh, that was a lot. So, I spent 10 hours yesterday manually reviewing all 2100+ Bo Bichette cards available on COMC and documenting the ones I don't yet have, with prices and links. It was ~700 cards. This morning I bought 80+ of the cheapest ones, so now I am at 1601 Bo cards  I now have more Bo cards than the first place guy on TCDB, but there are 30some not captured and I don't want to spend 100 hours checking all 1601 of my cards against what's been logged in TCDB, so I remain 2nd place for now. The bad news is that any card I want now costs at least $5USD, so no more cheap bulk gets Updated spreadsheet of which 1601 cards i can still taste him fucked around with this message at 21:07 on Nov 21, 2024 |
