If the Chargers aren't hyped as the off-season champs every year then it'll mess with the script. The cycle of high hopes and crushed dreams is something I need to offset my own team constantly making GBS threads the bed every year.

To be fair, as much love as the Chargers are getting, no one is saying they're winning the AFC West this year

It's not even worth bringing up anymore. Ross has dealt with enough without GMFB saying the Chargers are the favorite again.

If I remember right it was USA Today that was the big culprit but it's been going on for so long I'm not entirely sure if USA Today is still a thing

Each offseason for the last several years, the Chargers always did enough to look good on paper so they had the appearance of a contender. But after that meltdown against the Jaguars, there's no pretense anymore. The biggest deficit the Chargers have against the Chiefs and now Broncos is coaching. Brandon Staley is a fraud, and going into this season, he has to prove he is not. If not for the Raiders, he'd easily be the worst coach in the division right now. He's 3rd or 4th, and I'm not sure who's worse. That's what I think of Staley at this point.

I wanted Staley to be different from McCoy and Lynn. And that first season, it sure as hell looked like he was the guy. But at this point, I'm convinced he's just gonna go down as Telesco's last hire, and the end of this whole miserable era of sub-mediocrity. Worse yet, I'm not even fully convinced Telesco would get fired if Staley is.

I mean we all knew it was coming. It begs the question why he needs to return punts in any game that isn't the Super Bowl.

That being said Rashee Rice, Ritchie James, Skyy Moore and Justyn Ross have all looked really good in camp so far. MVS is still there. We'll be fine.

I agree with him that it is unlikely that Russell Wilson just suddenly sucked out of the blue.

Looks like that team is going in the right direction now. Will take a lot of time to turn it around though

Bad, very bad!
It's an ongoing joke and he's never going to be real good or anything, but Taysom Hill has managed to have a much better career than I ever would have suspected. As in he's still in the league if nothing else, I didn't think that would happen.

Not related to what he's been paid which is...well a bit much to say the least, but I guess go and get that bag if you can.

...like he's Tim Tebow but actually deserves a roster spot.

He’s a trick player but his trick is actually pretty decent.

He accounted for 11 touchdowns last year which put him second behind Dalton. His 7 rushing TDs were more than everyone else combined. The Saints run blocking wasn’t very good so having an extra blocker on QB power helped a lot and while he’s not a great thrower he’s enough of a threat that you have to respect it a little, especially near the goal line.

They got really lucky for awhile on the farm system and traded it all away to get that pennant.

The luck ran out since then and they swapped from an owner that finally was willing to spend some money to one that would rather service debt.
