I don't even know if this is a case of people being prudes. Local news tends to be really strict with their non-compete rules. I had a friend who was involved in the local theatre scene, acting in these extremely small productions. Stuff that went up in 50-seat theaters that was promoted entirely through posters at coffee shops, very low-key stuff. She went on to be hired as the weather reporter for a local channel, and had to drop out of the show she was currently in and promise to not appear in any others due to her non-compete. I think she even had to agree to have her Instagram managed by the station (or at least to get their sign-off on anything she posted). So yeah, this could also just be a case of the station being upset that they don't have 100% control over their talent.
