Honestly don't know how to feel about one of the schools I attended beating another in OT. I think I'm mainly happy for UMass? Plus, I know Minnesota would have just blown it in the final if they'd made it. Good luck next year, Goldy.

Maybe it's sour grapes, I dunno, but every time I watch Leonard I feel a little "eh" on him. I dunno what he is at the NHL level but I'm not sure it's the high scoring power forward people want to project him as. Like, maybe a Vatrano instead or something

The reffing was absolutely atrocious in that game (and to be fair it was in the game before it with the same refs) and the goalie equipment change was the weirdest most unlucky thing I’ve ever seen. Can’t blame Motzko for being pissed after that game the refs basically gifted UMass two goals and the forced goalie change was weird because I don’t think the goalie equipment rule necessitates a substitution there either (but the wording is kinda vague from what I’ve seen).

The one thing I wasn’t upset about was the goalie equipment issue. If it can’t be fixed quickly you’re supposed to be changing goalie. Up to discretion there. There were multiple situations which had me yelling at the screen that weren’t that. A lot of late checks (for NCAA). But there were multiple situations where the referee would get stuck in play because of slow anticipation of play. And because they looked like beer league refs who couldn’t cross over going in either direction they would be stepping into play slowly. Just a really disappointing selection.

There’s actually a dude I played with in youth hockey who was a terrible skater/player but is now reffing nationals for USA hockey lol. I stopped reffing a long time ago and I’m not surprised that it’s as bad as it is.

Definitely looking forward to the Denver/BC game, could easily see that one going either way. I think BU and WMU advance pretty easily, PSU probably wins though that should be a good one.
