Im going to say that Roxette's Look Sharp is probably one of the best albums ever made. 1988 was a good year

Sir I hate to break this to you but none of those tracks are from the 1980s, in face one of them is just a slowed down version of a 1979 Michael Jackson song.

It was funny when a random song from 1985 hit the top 3 on the billboard hot 100 this past summer because it appeared in Stranger Things. Hell, it stuck around for some time in the top 10 instead of disappearing like a lot of songs that make a brief comeback due to memes do. Only goes to prove that 80s music is that much better than the current stuff at the billboards that any random song can make a comeback given a little exposure. Despite the weird reverb and synth samples they used back then.

I feel like my parents do nowadays when it comes to music, although I am willing to admit there's a ton of talent out there. I am glad they are making a lot of money, I just can't get into the new styles of music though. Here, have a song by Kurtis Blow: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_shxzlTRK44

Mid-80s was all Miami Vice all day all night up here in the midwest. It was a very pastel world back then. It bled into the 90s and went hypercolor before the grunge wrecking ball turned everything black and blue. The 70s.. that was all brown, green, and orange. Walls, carpet, car interiors...

As a kid the notion of grown-rear end adults talking about video games in an office setting seemed like a childish fantasy. Hell, it stuck around for some time in the top 10 instead of disappearing like a lot of songs that make a brief comeback due to memes do. I kind of wonder if it's gotten easier to penetrate the billboard top 100 due to overall music sales being a fraction of what they used to. Music industry revenues peaked in the year 2000 and went in freefall ever since. Even though musicians kept making music in even greater numbers due to technology making it more accessible. So what do we need studios, producers, and labels for? Aside from distribution, their other role was to identify songs that would have wide appeal and get the public to notice, not just by getting them play on MTV and radio. But also by getting them to do live performances and interviews on shows that weren't ostensibly about music, such as daytime or late-night talk shows. Or attached to blockbusters in the form of movie soundtracks, I still lol to this day that Seal's 'Kissed from a Rose won 3 grammys in 1996 and yet the music video is interspersed with Batman Forever clips. But would it had won those accolades if it wasn't stapled to a capeman film? Because it originally came out in 1994 as part of the soundtrack for the Neverending Story 3, which bombed, and it didn't top the charts until it was rereleased the next year as Schumacher's idea of a batman love theme. Nothing about the song changed, just the marketing. The point is, songs were shoved in front of the eyes and ears of people that aren't exactly seeking new music, or music in general. They're fondly remembered not just because the songs were good, but because they were practically unavoidable. But with the role of producers shattered and television ratings falling every single year, it's unknown how the death of the old distribution channels will change how society collectively chronologizes music
