Yeah I don't feel like Ian pays attention to the politics of people he comes in contact with as much as he just interacts with the world and bounces off of whatever he comes across. He doesn't strike me as a person who does any research on the positions held by the person he's about to interview with beyond 'do they joke around and gently caress and like to be bananas about either'
